Women's Basketball

• The Mavericks won their first NCAA South Central Regional Title in 13 years last Monday (Mar. 16) with a 65-64 win over top-ranked Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas.
• The regional title is the second in program history and sends the Mavs to next week's NCAA Division II Elite Eight in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
• The Mavs are now 36-1 overall and have won 33 straight games, both of which are program records.
• They are seeded third in the Elite Eight and will play No. 6 seed Minnesota-Duluth on Tuesday morning at Noon EDT (10 a.m. Mountain) in a game that can be seen on ESPN+.
• A watch party will be held in Brownson Arena that all Maverick fans are invited to.  Entry is free.
• The national semifinals are on Thursday (time TBA) while the national championship game will be played on Saturday at 1 p.m. MDT.
• Olivia Reed Thyne was named as the regional tournament's MVP and was joined by Mason Rowland and Hallie Clark on the all-tournament team.
• Reed Thyne had 23 points and 14 rebounds in the championship game.
• She now holds the Colorado Collegiate (all divisions) single-season scoring record with 825 points, one more than Becky Hammon, a 6-time WNBA All-Star and now Head Coach of the Las Vegas Aces, who had 824 in her 1998-99 season at Colorado State.
• Reed Thyne also became the state's all-time career rebounding record holder during the regional tournament.
• She had 20 points and 14 rebounds in the Mavs' 35-point (80-45) quarterfinal round win over Lubbock Christian last Friday before scoring 31 in the 62-58 semifinal round win over UT Tyler on Saturday.
• Reed Thyne was named as the D2CCA South Central Regional Player of the Year and was joined on the first team all-region squad by Mason Rowland.
• Reed Thyne and Rowland were also both named to the First Team Academic All-RMAC squad.  Reed Thyne picked up her third straight RMAC Academic Player of the Year honor.
• The Mavs' 33-game winning streak is the longest in Division II and the second longest in all of NCAA women's basketball behind only Division I UConn (51).

Men's Basketball

• The Mavericks finished their season in the opening round of the NCAA South Central Regional Tournament, falling 99-66 to No. 1 seed Dallas Baptist University on Mar. 14.
• The Mavs were making their sixth NCAA Tournament appearance in the last seven years.
• They finished the season with a 21-11 record and reached the 20-win mark for the sixth time in seven years.
• Ty Allred was named to the D2CCA All-South Central Region First Team and ended the season with 587 points (18.3 ppg) and 228 rebounds (7.1 rpg).
• He was also named to the NABC All-District Second Team for the South Central Region on Monday.
• On Mar. 16, Mike Dunlap stepped down as the Mavs' head coach due to health concerns.
• A national search for his replacement is underway.
• The Mavs were 40-21 in Dunlap's two seasons with the program.
• The Mavs had two selections to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll in Ben Kaye and Harvey White.

Swimming & Diving

• The Maverick men and women both finished third at the NCAA Division II Championships in Evansville, Indiana, contested between Mar. 10-14.
• The men's finish was their best in program history and marked the first time they have won a NCAA Championship team trophy (top 4).
• The Maverick women have now won a trophy in four straight years.
• The Mavs had an incredible 35 podium (top 8) finishes throughout the week.
• Included in that were seven national runner-up and five third place finishes.
• CMU's Julie Weddle was named as the CSCAA's NCAA Division II Men's Dive Coach of the Year.
• Ryan Campbell was the national runner-up in both men's diving events.
• Guillaume Guth took second in the men's 100-yard freestyle while also helping the Maverick men to a second place finish in the 200 free relay
• The Maverick women's 800 free relay team also took second as did Melina Giraudeau (200 Breast) and Kenya Meyer (1m Diving) in individual events.

Men's Wrestling

• Redshirt junior Owen Cline claimed his second straight all-America honor after placing fifth in the 157-pound bracket at the NCAA Division II Championships in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Mar. 13-14.
• He went 4-2 throughout the tournament and finished his season with a 16-5 record.
• Cline was one of three Mavericks in the national tournament.  Tyler Doyle finished just one win shy of a second all-America honor as he went 2-2 in the 285-pound bracket.
• He finished his season with a 17-5 record.
• Alex Castaneda, a first time national qualifier, went 0-2 at 149 pounds and finished the year with a 17-12 record.
• The Mavericks finished 23^rd in the final team standings with 13 points.  They were also 23^rd in the final National Wrestling Coaches Association Team Rankings released prior to the national tournament.

Indoor Track & Field

• Two Maverick sprinters in Teo Casados and Joseph Randolph represented the Mavs in the 200 meters at the Mar. 13-14 NCAA Division II Championships in Virginia Beach, Virginia
• Casados finished seventh and earned First Team All-America honors.
• With his two team points, the Mavericks finished in a tie for 45^th in the final team standings.
• Randolph also originally advanced to the finals, but was later disqualified for a lane violation in his preliminary heat following a protest of the Pittsburg State coaching staff.

Outdoor Track & Field

• The Mavericks got the outdoor season off to a great start hosting the Maverick Early Bird Open last Thursday and Friday
• The Mavericks won all six field events they contested on the first day as Kaiya Graves smashed her own school record in the women's javelin while Izaak Siefken broke the facility record in the men's javelin.
• The Maverick men's 4x100-meter relay team then smashed the school and track records on Friday, recording a national-leading time of 39.62 seconds.
• The Mavs won 17 events on Friday and 23 throughout the meet while setting five NCAA provisional qualifying marks.
• The Mavs will be at CSU Pueblo for this Friday and Saturday's Chuck Haering Invitational before returning home to host the High Desert Dental Maverick Invitational on Apr. 2-3.

Baseball

• The Mavs sat third in last week's NCBWA (National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association) Division II Poll and have continued to dominate the RMAC.
• The Mavs are now 12-0 in the RMAC and have a 26-3 overall record.
• They have won 25 straight over Division II opposition.
• The Mavs only loss since Feb. 7 was a 6-4 decision at NCAA Division I Utah Valley on Mar. 11.
• The Mavs then went on to sweep a road series at CSU Pueblo on Mar. 13-14, winning all four games in a span of just 25 hours.
• The Mavs were also on the road last week, sweeping Colorado Christian in Friday-Sunday series.
• Caleb Ruter was named as the RMAC Pitcher of the Week last Tuesday (Mar. 17) after recording a complete game 5-hit shutout during the CSU Pueblo series.
• Against Colorado Christian, the Mavericks scored 57 runs and hit .360 as a team.
• They scored 22 runs in the first game of the series on Friday, a new season-high.
• Cameron Cartwright hit three home runs in that game while Kolby Felix had a grand slam.
• On Saturday, the Mavs claimed 3-2 and 16-7 victories before securing a sixth straight series sweep with a 16-11 win on Sunday.
• Five different Mavs had six or more RBIs throughout the series with the Cougars.
• The Mavs used 20 different pitchers, who combined for 33 strikeouts in 30 innings of work.
• After playing nine straight away games, the Mavs have returned home for their next four and will host the Colorado School of Mines (9-17, 6-6 RMAC) in a weekend series.
• Friday's single game will begin at 6:05 p.m. before the Mavs and Orediggers play a Saturday doubleheader at 1 p.m.
• Sunday's series finale will be played at Noon.

Beach Volleyball

• The Mavericks recorded a perfect 10-0 record during their Spring Break trip to the Southeastern United States.
• They won nine of their ten matches by 5-0 margins, claiming a Tuesday doubleheader sweep of Division I Tennessee Tech in Louisville, Tennessee before heading to Franklin Springs, Georgia and Emmanuel University for the rest of the week, playing twice on Wednesday, three times on Friday and three times on Saturday.
• The Mavs went 5-0 against Division II opponents during the week handing Carson-Newman its only two losses of the season while also taking down the hosts twice.
• The Mavs also won over Erskine on Wednesday.
• The Mavs are now 14-4 overall and have won a program-record 14 straight matches
• Redshirt senior Gracyn Spresser has matched the program record for career wins (68) alongside Sabrina VanDeList after Spresser and partner Ellie Ask went 10-0 in the top flight throughout the week.
• They have now won 15 consecutive matches and are 15-3 as a pair.
• The Mavs' 2-3-4 pairs also all went 10-0 throughout the week and are all a perfect 14-0 this season when playing together.
• Those players are Ewelina Gacek & Ania Swartzendruber (No. 2), Mikala Henderson & Addie Ritterbush (No. 3) and Regan Rothley and Lauren Rohlwing (No. 4).
• The Mavs are off this week and will then close out the regular season at the Wildcat Spring Challenge in Tucson, Arizona on Apr. 3-4.
• The Mavs will then play at the Apr. 17-19 AVCA Small College Beach Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Men's Lacrosse

• The Maverick men have played five games over the past two weeks, making a 3-game, 4-day trip through Florida between Mar. 14-17 before returning home to claim RMAC wins over Dominican and CUI over this past weekend.
• The Mavs are now 6-2 overall and tied for the RMAC lead with a 3-0 conference record.
• The Mavs swept the RMAC Player of the Week awards last Monday (Mar. 16) as Connor Jensen and Shaden Shields won the Offensive and Defensive honors for their efforts in a 16-12 win over Palm Beach Atlantic on Mar. 14 and the Mavs' 12-6 defeat to then fourth-ranked Tampa on Sunday, Mar. 15.
• Shields was also named to the USILA's NCAA Division II Team of the Week.
• The Mavs' comeback attempt against #RV Flagler last Tuesday (Mar. 17) ran out of time as the Mavericks scored all five fourth-quarter goals to pull within 10-9 after falling behind 10-4 through three quarters.
• The Mavs then bounced back in Friday night's 22-6 home win over Dominican with youngsters leading the way as redshirt freshman Aidan Brock scored five goals while Ari Villano added three.
• Villano also had a hat trick in CMU's 19-8 win over CUI on Sunday afternoon.  The Mavs jumped out to an 11-0 lead in that game and had eight different players score two or more goals.
• Freshman Boaz Brown also made 16 saves while Carson Points recorded career-highs for assists (4) and points (6) in the win over CUI.
• The Mavs are on the road this week, taking on Westminster in a top of the standings clash on Thursday night at 7 p.m. in Salt Lake City, Utah before heading to Nampa, Idaho for a Saturday night game at Northwest Nazarene, a RMAC newcomer.
• The Mavs are now ranked 15^th in the latest USILA NCAA Division II Coaches Poll, released on Monday.  Westminster is receiving votes while Flagler is now ranked 20th.  

Softball

• The Mavs have won ten of their last 11 games and are now 17-11 overall.
• They are tied for second place in the RMAC standings with a 16-4 conference record.
• The Mavs have won all five of their RMAC series and claimed their first series sweep this past weekend at home over Adams State.
• Prior to that, the Mavs won three out of four games at New Mexico Highlands on Mar. 14-15.
• They swept the first doubleheader over the Cowgirls, 10-1 and 10-3 before splitting the second doubleheader.
• TK Landes went 6-for-12 (.500) with two home runs and 10 RBIs in the series against the Cowgirls.
• The Mavericks then scored 47 runs on 47 hits while drawing 25 walks during the home weekend with the Grizzlies.
• They recorded 9-0 and 12-4 run-rule wins on Saturday as Sophia Tassinari recorded her first solo shutout of the season in the first game.
• On Sunday, the Mavs claimed another 14-4 run-rule win before completing the series sweep with a 12-8 victory.
• Cailynn Parsons went 6-for-8 (.750) with two doubles and four RBIs in the series.
• Seven different players combined to hit eight home runs against the Grizzlies.
• The Mavs will remain at home this week to host UCCS (17-12, 11-9 RMAC) in a key RMAC series.  Doubleheaders will be at Noon on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Men's Golf

• The Maverick men's golf team resumes its season today (Monday) and Tuesday at the Coyote Classic in Beaumont, California.
• The Mavericks are ranked 12^th in the SCOREBOARD NCAA Division II national rankings.
• The Mavs are also tied for 12^th in the first Bushnell/Golfweek DII Coaches Poll of the spring season, coordinated by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
• Individually, Leo Lavalle and Dylan Everett continue to move up the SCOREBOARD rankings.  Lavalle is now 37^th while Everett is 46^th.
• Everett was named as the RMAC Golfer of the Week for the second time this season on Mar. 10.

Women's Golf

• The Maverick women played two tournaments in Arizona to open their spring season between Mar. 9-13 at the Wigwam Golf Resort.
• They placed sixth out of 13 teams at the SMSU Spring Invitational before winning the 10-team SMSU Challenge.
• The Mavs posted team scores of 307 and 308 in that tournament to win by 11 shots with a 36-hole total of 615, picking up their first team win of the campaign.
• The Mavs also had three top five finishers as Payton Panzeri claimed her first collegiate tournament win by four shots with a 2-day score of 145.
• Hunter Gledhill finished fourth while Anju Ogi tied for fifth.
• Panzeri later named as the RMAC Golfer of the Week.
• The Mavs also played in the Southern Colorado Open and were in 12^th place after the first round.  Monday's second round is underway.

Women's Tennis

• The Maverick women went 2-2 in their Spring Break trip to California, claiming wins over Westmont on Mar. 15 and last Tuesday (Mar. 17) over Menlo.
• The Mavs also played at Biola and No. 34 Azusa Pacific on Mar. 16 and 18, respectively
• Jade Brilhante and Catalina Ballon both went 3-1 in singles throughout the trip.
• Brilhante beat a nationally-ranked opponent in No. 72 Karola Suviste from Azusa Pacfic.
• Ballon and Delia Maier also went 3-1 together in doubles play throughout the trip.
• Now 9-11 overall, the Mavericks will be on the road in Colorado Springs this weekend, playing a pair of NCAA Division III opponents at Lifetime Fitness in the northern part of the city.
• They will take on the University of the Ozarks (Ark.) on Friday and the host Colorado College Tigers on Saturday.

Men's Tennis

• The Mavs also played the same four opponents on their spring break trip to California.
• The trip included battles at No. 25 Biola and No. 39 Azusa Pacific
• Emil Hultman went 2-2 at No. 3 singles to lead the Mavericks' efforts.
• All three doubles teams won at match during the trip as well.
• CMU, now 5-12 overall, will look to snap a 7-match slide when they head to Colorado Springs this week, playing NCAA Division III University of the Ozarks (Ark.) and Colorado College on Friday & Saturday, respectively.

Women's Lacrosse

• The Mavs are now 1-8 overall and 0-3 in the RMAC.
• They dropped an 8-7 decision to UCCS at home on Sunday, Mar. 15.
• They were then defeated 16-13 at Westminster this past Saturday.
• Courtney Havel recorded her second straight 4-goal game against UCCS.
• Sofia Chock and Lilly Osterman then both had had tricks in Salt Lake City.
• Sophie Astone had five ground balls in both games and has recorded six draw controls in the two games as well.
• The Mavs will be on the road again this week, playing at CSU Pueblo on Friday night before heading to Durango to play at Fort Lewis on Sunday afternoon.

Triathlon

• The Mavericks will compete in the Virtual Super Sprint Invitational this Friday morning at 6:30 a.m. on campus.
• They will compete in a 200-yard pool swim in the El Pomar Natatorium and will then contest a 4-mile virtual ride on their training bikes on the pool deck using the Training Peaks Virtual Software before transitioning to a 1-kilometer run around campus.
• The Mavericks will then compare their times against Drury and Trine, who are competing on Saturday in their own locales in Missouri and Indiana, to determine the overall results of the virtual meet.

Women's Wrestling

• The Mavericks had a program-record 18 women earn NWCA Scholar All-America honors, the most of any Division II institution.
• Hania Halverson was recognized for the fourth straight year while four other Mavs have now been honored three times.
• Later, the Mavs also won the NWCA's Team Scholar Award and had the highest GPA amongst Division II schools while having the fourth best figure overall.
