SIOUX FALLS, S.D.— Colorado Mesa University redshirt junior
Owen Cline went 2-1 and finished his season on a high note, claiming fifth place in the 157-pound bracket at the NCAA Division II Men's Wrestling Championships on Saturday here in the Sanford Premier Center.
The Orting, Washington native had also gone 2-1 in Friday's portion of the tournament to guarantee a second straight all-America honor, which go to the top eight finishers in each of the tournament's ten weight classes.
Cline finished his season with a 16-5 record after taking fourth at the 2025 national tournament.
Cline finished the tournament off with a come-from-behind 14-12 win over West Liberty's Nico Taddy in the fifth place match. Cline trailed 7-0 during and 8-2 at the end of the second period but rallied with four third-period takedowns to claim the victory.
Earlier, Cline built a 9-2 lead in the first period of his consolation quarterfinal match against No. 7 seed Holden Huhn of Gannon, before finishing it with an 11-8 victory.
He was then pinned by Wisconsin-Parkside's Easton Woracheck in the consolation semifinal as Woracheck went on to place third.
With Cline's wins on Saturday, the Mavericks moved up a spot in the final team standings and will finish 23
rd with 13 team points.
Nebraska-Kearney leads the team standings heading into Saturday's championship finals with 79 points. The Lopers have three finalists and are ahead of Wisconsin-Parkside by six points and Central Oklahoma by seven.
Parkside has one finalist while Central Oklahoma has two.
