Reed Thyne, Rowland lead D2CCA All-Region selections

LUBBOCK, Texas – The D2CCA All-Region teams were released on Friday (Mar. 12) ahead of the NCAA Regional Tournaments that are set to begin tomorrow. Colorado Mesa's Olivia Reed Thyne and Mason Rowland were named to the First Team with Reed Thyne earning South Central Region Player of the Year.
 
The team is selected by the sports information directors from the South Central Region which includes the RMAC and Lone Star Conference.
 
Reed Thyne was the top vote getter after leading the region in scoring (22.1) and rebounding (11.4) while shooting 62.8 percent from the field which is fourth best nationally. She set the Colorado Mesa single-season program record for scoring in a season with 751 points.
 
She scored a season-high 40 points in the Mavericks win over Black Hills State in the RMAC Tournament and had 32 double-digit scoring nights on the season. She had 19 double digit rebounding efforts including a season-high 20 in the RMAC Tournament final against UCCS.
 
The Windsor, Colo. native became the first player in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference history that scored 2,000 points and pulled down 1,000 rebounds during their career in the conference. Reed Thyne also set program and RMAC records for total points and total rebounds.
 
She is now a four-time All-South Central Region selection.
 
Redshirt sophomore Mason Rowland was named to the First Team for the first time in her career. Rowland averaged 18.3 points and six rebounds per game during the season. She had a career-high 35 points including a program best 19-for-19 from the free-throw line against UCCS in the RMAC Tournament Championship game.
 
The Durango, Colo. native scored in double figures in 33 of the 34 games the Mavericks played in and finished the regular season with 13 20-plus point games and seven double-doubles.
 
Rowland became a 1,000 point scorer in just her second full collegiate season and has scored 623 points this season.
 
Both players are now eligible to become D2CCA All-Americans that will be released in the coming weeks.
