VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.— Colorado Mesa University redshirt senior
Teo Casados finished seventh and earned a spot on the podium in the men's 200 meters on Saturday here at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships.
He ran to a time of 21.17 seconds in the second of the 2-heat final, placing fourth in that heat.
With the effort, he also clinches First Team U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-America honor, the first of his career.
He also scored two team points for the Mavs, who finished in a tie for 45
th in the overall standings.
Casados, a native of Thornton, Colorado, was making his first appearance in the NCAA Indoor Championships and in a national final. He took 15
th in the 200 meters at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor meet.
With his final outdoor season remaining this spring, Casados has also won four Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tiles and has 11 All-RMAC and four USTFCCCA All-South Central to his credit.
Maverick junior
Joseph Randolph, who broke Casados' 200-meter school record earlier this season,
had originally qualified to run in Saturday's 2-heat final as well but was later disqualified for a lane violation during his Friday night preliminary heat after Pittsburg State's coaching staff filed a protest that was upheld following a video review.
That disqualification was put in to the official results on Saturday morning and moved the Gorillas' Griouard Weddington into the final in the eighth qualification spot for Saturday's final.
Weddington was then disqualified for a false start in the first heat of Saturday's final.
Randolph and Casados had both run times of 21.13 in Friday's preliminary round.
