GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— Colorado Mesa University's Izaak Siefken was named to the 2025-26 NCAA Division II Academic All-District® Men's Cross Country/Track & Field teams as selected by College Sports Communicators, it was announced by CSC on Tuesday.

He was a third team honoree.

Siefken is just the third Maverick men's track & field athlete to ever earn the prestigious Academic All-America® honor and comes after he was one of six Maverick men to receive Academic All-District® honors last month.  He was also an Academic All-District® honoree in 2024-25 and was CMU's lone nominee for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men's Scholar-Athlete of the Year award from all sports.

He was also selected to the First Team Academic All-RMAC squad for the second straight year.

The javelin thrower out of Broomfield, Colorado, has a 3.62 GPA and is majoring in mechanical engineering.  He earned Second Team U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-America honors with a 14^th place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in May.  He also won his second straight Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference title with a RMAC Championship and CMU record throw of 68.75 meters (225 feet, 7 inches).
 
To be eligible for nomination for the CSC Academic All-District and America® teams, student-athletes must have a 3.50 or higher cumulative grade point average, be at least a sophomore, both academically or athletically and meet an athletic performance threshold of being ranked in the top 50 of their region for at least one individual track & field event or being amongst the top 50 finishers at the NCAA regional cross country championship.

CSC members then voted for the Academic All-America selections.

The 16-member first team had a 3.91 average GPA and ten student-athletes on the three teams had a perfect 4.0 GPA.

The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Division II Academic All-America® program.
