COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Colorado Mesa University men's track & field standouts
Chase Brown,
Aidan Brownell and
Izaak Siefken were all selected to the First Team Academic-All Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference squad for the recently completed 2026 outdoor season.
The trio, who matched a program-record for the most first team picks in a single season, also led 25 Maverick men named to the RMAC's Academic Honor Roll, which was released in conjunction with the first team selections by conference officials on Monday afternoon.
The 25-man First Team Academic All-RMAC squad was selected by a vote of the conference's athletics communications directors, who were not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes. To be eligible for nomination, student-athletes must have a 3.50 or higher cumulative grade point average, be in at least their second consecutive year at their nominating institution and have used a season of eligibility.
Honor roll recognition requires a 3.30 or higher GPA as well as meeting the other criteria.
The Mavs' list of honorees can be found below.
The Maverick women also doubled their program-record with six first team selections and had a conference-leading 31 honor roll picks.
Brown, a redshirt junior civil engineering major from Bloomingdale, Michigan, holds a perfect 4.00 GPA and has added to his impressive list of academic-based awards.
He has now been named to the First Team Academic All-RMAC squad seven times in his cross country and track & field career. He also won all three RMAC Summit Awards in the 2025 calendar year and was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team for the 2024-25 academic year.
On the track during the 2026 outdoor season, he set career-best times of 3:55.03 and 14:33.26 in the 1,500 and 5,000, meters respectively, qualifying for the RMAC Championships in both events. He is now ranked fifth in program history for the 1,500 and sixth in the 5,000 with those times, both of which were set at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
Brownell, a sophomore business administration major and hurdler, holds a 3.61 GPA. The LaSalle, Colorado native, set a career-best time of 52.19 seconds to take the silver medal in the 400-meter hurdles at the RMAC Championships. That time, a NCAA Division II Championship provisional qualifying mark, ranks him second in program history.
Thanks to that effort, he also earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-South Central Region accolades and was a First Team All-RMAC performer.
Brownell now has three overall All-RMAC certificates in the hurdling events and is on the First Team All-Academic squad for the first time. He was also tabbed as the RMAC Co-Freshman of the Year after the 2025 outdoor season.
Siefken, a redshirt senior from Broomfield, Colorado, was selected to the first team for the second straight year. The mechanical engineering major holds a 3.80 GPA at CMU and recently earned Second Team USTFCCCA All-America honors with a 14
th place finish in the javelin at what was his first NCAA Division II National Championship.
Siefken also set the RMAC Championship and CMU record in the event with a throw of 68.75 meters (225 feet, 7 inches) as he successfully defended his RMAC title. He also earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors and led the RMAC season-long performance list with that effort.
The former collegiate baseball pitcher at the University of Illinois has now claimed three straight First Team All-RMAC honors and championship medals in the javelin
after self-teaching himself the sport. He was also named to the CSC Academic All-District team in 2024-25 and has been on the USTFCCCA's All-Academic Team in each of the past two years with those honors for 2025-26 still pending.
