Hayden Hawley recorded top ten individual finishes as the Colorado Mesa University women's golf team finished sixth at the SMSU Spring Invite, the Mavs' opening tournament of the spring season.
The Mavs finished Tuesday's second round played here at the Wigwam Golf Resort's Red Course with a 327 (+39) and the 36-hole tournament at 634 (+58). They were in second place after Monday's round but slipped back.
Ogi finished in a tie for eighth place in the individual standings at 154 (+10). She signed for an 80 (+8) on Tuesday.
Hawley, playing as an individual, tied for tenth at 155 (+11). She recorded three birdies in her Tuesday effort of 76 (+4) and finished in the top ten for the first time of her collegiate career.
Payton Panzeri also posted a round of 80 on Tuesday and tied for 13
th overall at 156 (+12)
McKenzie Dolph registered an 83 and finished in a tie for 24
th at 160 (+16) while
Hunter Gledhill and
Libby Bourassa both recorded 84's, one of which was counted toward the team score. Gledhill finished the tournament 35
th at 164 (+20) while Bourassa was 37
th at 165 (+21)
Western New Mexico, which led the Mavs by three shots after Monday's round, won the 13-team tournament at 613 (+37). Concordia-St. Paul had a 307, the best round of the day, to move up to second at 616 (+40), three shots behind the Mustangs.
Western New Mexico's Falyn Lackey and Izabella Pesicka shared medalist honors at 148 (+4). MSU Denver's Neige Dunn had a 73 on Tuesday, the best round of the day, and tied for third overall at 150 (+6).
The Mavs will remain here for the SMSU Challenge, which will be played on the resort's Blue Course on Thursday and Friday.
