CMU women take fourth in abbreviated RMAC Championships

BOULDER CITY, Nev.— The Colorado Mesa University women's golf team finished fourth in the final standings of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships after extreme winds forced the tournament here at the Boulder Creek Golf Course to be cut short.

Tuesday's play started earlier than planned at 7:30 a.m. local time and was divided into two 9-hole round per United States Golf Association rules.  Conditions started out calm but winds kicked up the later the day went and eventually rose to 25 miles-per-hour with gusts of nearly 40.

Play was halted when officials received reports of the balls rolling off the greens.

All 58 players from the ten teams were able to complete their first nine holes, the results of which were used to determine the third round scores for both the team and individual standings.

Eighteen of the tournament's players, including all six Mavs, were still on the course having completed between 12 and 16 holes.

Seven teams had completed their rounds, but had the scores from the 10th-18th holes negated.

The Mavs finished with a 2 ½-round tournament total of 758 (+38) and recorded an official score of 159 (+15) during Tuesday's play.

CSU Pueblo was declared the team winner at 745 (+23) after entering the day leading by 11 shots.  Colorado Christian and Westminster tied for second at 751 (+29) and were also tied for second coming into Tuesday's play.

Maverick sophomore Hunter Gledhill tied for fifth in the final individual standings with a 45-hole score of 186 (+6).  She had a wild ride through Tuesday's abbreviated competition, making three birdies, four bogeys and two double bogeys in the nine holes, posting a 5-over par score of 41.

Libby Bourassa led the Mavs on Tuesday with an even par front-9 of 36, enabled by three birdies.  She finished at 197 (+17) overall.

McKenzie Dolph's 39 (+3) and one of the Mavs' 43's from Hayden Hawley and Anju Ogi were also figured into the Mavs' Tuesday score in the tournament's play-six, score-four format.

Payton Panzeri had a 44 (+8) in the nine official holes on Tuesday, which was dropped.

Westminster's Ashley Lam was determined to be the medalist with an official score of 181 (+1).  Colorado Christian's Rhea Schultz took second at 182 (+2) ahead of teammate McKenna Brown and CSU Pueblo's Thale Estensen, who tied for fourth at 185 (+5), one shot ahead of the 3-way tie for fifth that Gledhill was part of.

Conference officials are working with the tournament's official scoring software provider to provide the complete tournament scoring information.

This recap will be updated with that information.

The Mavericks' 2025-26 season has now been completed.
