Dolph, Gledhill lead Mavericks in second round of RMAC Championships

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The Colorado Mesa women's golf team dropped back two spots on the team leaderboard after the completion of the second round of the RMAC Championships at Boulder Creek Golf Club on Monday (Apr. 20) afternoon.

Conditions started out ideal with light to no wind but deteriorated as the day progressed. Winds kicked up to 15-20mph with gusts reaching as high as 32mph.

Colorado Mesa will enter the final round of play in fourth place after firing a team total of 307 in the second round. They are in contention to get back to the second spot as they are five strokes back of both Colorado Christian and Westminster.

CSU Pueblo, ranked No. 28 by Clipp'd Scoreboard, is leading the team race with a two-round total of 583, 16 strokes ahead of the Mavericks.

A pair of underclassmen led the way for the Mavericks in the second round as sophomores Hunter Gledhill and McKenzie Dolph who shot matching 73s.

Gledhill was consistent in her round with two bogeys and a birdie on the final hole of the El Dorado side of the course. Gledhill shot even-par yesterday and is in a tie fourth place in the medalist hunt just two strokes back.

Dolph had one of her best rounds as a Maverick on Monday morning. The Pine, Colo. native shot a career best 73 after carding three bogeys and two birdies in her round. She started the round going 3-over but closed with the two birdies in her final five holes.

Payton Panzeri (7-over, 79) and Anju Ogi (10-over, 82) were the third and fourth scorers for the Mavericks respectively.

Westminster's Ashley Lam leads the medalist hunt after shooting a 3-under, 69 in Monday's second round.

The tournament will conclude tomorrow morning with tee times scheduled to begin at 7am. High winds are forecasted which has forced the move of the tee times.
