BOULDER CITY, Nev.— The Colorado Mesa University women's golf team posted its best round in a decade and has three players amongst the top ten players in the individual standings after the first round of the 2026 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships, which got underway Sunday here at the Boulder Creek Golf Club.
The Mavericks registered a team score of 292 (+4) and are in second place out of ten teams, just five behind nationally-ranked CSU Pueblo.
CMU's team score of 292 is the best since the Mavs posted scores of 291 and 292 at the Western New Mexico Fall Intercollegiate during the 2015-16 season, the best two rounds in program history.
Anju Ogi led the Mavericks, recording a 1-under round of 71, equal to the best of any Mav this season, and is in sixth place, just one shot behind a 5-way tie at -2 (70). Ogi made three birdies and just two bogeys.
Teammate
Hunter Gledhill is just one shot further back and in seventh place after recording an even par round of 72. She made four birdies.
Payton Panzeri is tied for eighth at 73 (+1).
Freshman
Hayden Hawley's round of 76 (+4) rounded out the Mavs' team score. She is tied for 18
th.
Libby Bourassa and
McKenzie Dolph had scores of 78 and 79 in the opening round but were not counted in the Mavs' team score under the tournament's play six-score four format.
Monday's second round will begin at 8 a.m. PDT (9 a.m. Mountain) with a shotgun start. The third round and final round will then be played on Tuesday.
