FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga.— The Colorado Mesa University beach volleyball team completed a perfect 10-0 spring break trip while redshirt senior
Gracyn Spresser matched the Mavericks' career wins record during the Mavs' three 5-0 victories on Saturday here at Emmanuel University.
The Mavericks dropped just two sets throughout the day, which began with a win over the host Lions. They then handed Carson-Newman University just its second loss of the season before completing the day and the trip with a victory over LaGrange College.
The Mavs had defeated the same teams in reverse order on Friday.
The Mavs are now 14-4 overall and have won a program-record extending 14 consecutive matches, 13 of which have come by 5-0 margins.
Spresser, who once again played aside sophomore
Ellie Ask at No. 1, now has 68 career victories, matching the program record that Sabrina VanDeList set in 2024.
Spresser and Ask have now won 15 consecutive matches and are 15-3 this season.
They dropped their first set against EU's Leah Van Wyngarden and Faith Kelly by a tight 21-19 score but came back to win the second set, 21-11, before taking the third set by a 15-8 margin.
Spresser and Ask then won 21-18, 21-14 over CNU's Paige Halcrow and Trinity Hafey before dispatching of LC's Alex Kravs and Julia Damico by 21-16 and 21-11 margins.
Meanwhile, the Mavs continued to use their same lineup at No. 2, 3 and 4. All three of those pairs are now 14-0 together.
On Court 2,
Ania Swartzendruber and
Ewelina Gacek lost just one set, and held their opponents to 12 or fewer points in each of the six sets they won. The Maverick duo were 21-7, 21-10 winners over EU and claimed a 21-12, 16-21, 15-9 win over CNU's Ava Potts and Emerson Ahsmuhs. Gacek and Swartzendruber then won 21-12, 21-8 over their LaGrange opponents.
Addie Ritterbush and
Mikala Henderson were even more dominant at No. 3. They won by 21-12, 21-9 against the host Lions and 21-10, 21-10 over the CNU Eagles. They then finished the day with a 21-10, 21-9 win over the Panthers.
On Court 4,
Regan Rothley and
Lauren Rohlwing won 21-15, 21-6 over the EU Lions to start their day. They then had a hard-fought 21-17, 23-21 win over the Eagle pair of Morgan Foy and Lucy Bartee. Rothley and Rohlwing then recorded a 21-11, 21-11 win over the Panthers' Danika Durham and Kaitlin Gilchrist to complete their day and week.
As they did on Friday, the Mavericks rotated three players at No. 5.
Ava Blanco and
Stormi Tadlock defeated EU's Madelyn Banton and Lauryn Kroening, 21-14, 21-6.
Tadlock then teamed with
Jessica Passi for a tight 21-19, 21-18 win over CNU's Kelcey Peterson and Maddison Trondle.
Blanco and Passi then capped the day with a dominant 21-7, 21-9 victory over LC's Emerson Melvin and Riley Curtis.
The Mavericks will continue their season at the University of Arizona's Wildcat Spring Challenge on Apr. 3-4 in Tucson, their final regular season weekend prior to the Apr. 17-19 AVCA Small College Beach Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
