#3 Mavericks complete four-game sweep of Cougars

LAKEWOOD, Colo. – The No. 3 Colorado Mesa baseball team completed the four-game sweep of the Colorado Christian Cougars on Sunday (Mar. 22) afternoon after a 16-11 win at All-Star Park.

Offensively, the Mavericks used 16 hits with seven of those going for extra bases.

Kolby Felix finished the game 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI. His first hit came in the second inning as he led it off with a double to left field. Later, he had an RBI triple to right field in the eighth inning and came around to score on an RBI single by Cameron Cartwright.

Noah Neufeld had a three-hit game while Landon Nunes drove in four including his first home run as a Maverick.

Rocco DiFrancesco hit his first home run of the season after entering the game as a defensive replacement. DiFrancesco launched the first pitch he saw for the round tripper.

Eight of the nine Colorado Mesa starters had at least one hit in the game.

The game turned into a bullpen game for the Mavericks as Alex Jennings pitched the first two innings and allowed three hits and one unearned run with two strikeouts.

Eight pitchers wound up taking the mound with Brenden Morris earning the win after pitching an inning and two-thirds of no-hit baseball.

The pitching staff allowed 11 runs but only one of those were earned.

Colorado Mesa is now 26-3 on the season and a perfect 12-0 in the conference. They have now won 25 straight against NCAA Division II opponents and eight straight overall.
