    Adams-Reece graduated Ionia High School in Ionia, MI, as a decorated athlete. She received All Conference and All Region selection from 1994 to 1997 in Softball, Track & Field, Soccer, Basketball and Volleyball.
 
Prior to her time at Colorado Mesa University, she attended Lansing Community College and Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC). At GRCC, she was a two-time First Team NJCAA All-American and set the record for stolen bases with 37 and also hit seven triples.
 
During the 2000 and 2001 seasons, Adams-Reece played softball for the Mavericks. Both of these years she was selected as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Player of the Year, First Team All-RMAC, First Team All-Region, and First Team All-American.
 
In the 2000 season, she hit 12 of the team's 58 homeruns. That year the Mavericks were the NCAA DII statistical homerun champions, hitting 58 in 56 games. Adams-Reece led the nation in runs with 73. The Mavericks finished the season as RMAC and South Central Region champions (28-8 in conference play and 44-12 overall), earning a trip to the Division II championships.
 
The following season she was chosen to the South Central Regional Tournament Team. She was the NCAA DII Individual Homerun Champion, responsible for 21 of the team's 98 homeruns. Kelly broke the RMAC stolen base record with 47. In 54 games, Adams-Reece was the NCAA statistical champion in Runs Scored, with 72 in 54 games. She earned 177 total bases in 185 at bats (.957 avg.).
 
That year the Mavericks were the DII statistical Slugging Percentage Champion and Homerun Champions. They broke the NCAA single season homeruns record with 98, led the nation in Runs with 437, and in Doubles with 105. They ended the season in the South Central Regional Tournament with a record of 42-12 overall, 27-4 in conference play. At the RMAC Centennial Celebration, Adams-Reece was honored as the All-Time Top Player in softball, RMAC Player of the Century and named to the All-Centennial Team.
Information as of 2012: 
Adams-Reece and her husband Justin now live in Klamath Falls, Oregon. She is employed as a Wilderness Ranger for the U.S. Forest Service.
