    Information as of 2014:  Max has been a fan and supporter of Colorado Mesa athletics for over 50 years. Krey can be found in the stands at nearly every CMU athletic contest and even some of the away ones. Max and his wife Helen are generous benefactors to CMU giving to numerous areas on campus. The couple were instrumental in establishing the Krey Special Purpose Scholarship to assist CMU student-athletes who exhausted their eligibility but are still working towards a degree. The nursing lab on campus is named after Helen, a former nurse, as well as the Krey Room in the former Campbell Student Center. Max is a longtime member of the Maverick Club at the founder level and served as the President of the Mesa State Foundation Board from 1982-84. He served as president of the downtown Grand Junction Rotary Club from 1985-86 and received the Pioneer of the Piceance Award from the Western Slope Colorado Oil and Gas Association in 2011. Max earned his bachelors degree in engineering and geology from Kansas State, served in the US Army and has served as the president of MAK Energy since 1980.
