Information as of 2003: Heather Legge graduated from Silverton High School in 1988 having participated in volleyball, basketball, track and tennis. She was named Colorado volleyball player of the year in 1988. She was also named Most Valuable Player at Silverton High School in volleyball and basketball and held All-State honors in volleyball as well as basketball. Not only was she active in high school sports, but she was also a member of the National Honor Society, the school choir and the school band.
Heather entered Mesa State College in 1988 and earned a Business Management degree. While attending Mesa, her athletic achievements in volleyball were outstanding. In 1989 the Mesa State volleyball team placed first in the RMAC with a record of 25-17. Heather was named to the 2nd Team All-Conference as a sophomore. In 1990 the team placed first in the RMAC with a record of 37-12. In that year Heather was named Honorable Mention All-American, the Most Valuable Player in the Conference and the District. She was instrumental in leading the team victory at the District level and went on to Fresno for the playoffs.
In 1991, the team's record was 39-12 and Heather was chosen the Most Valuable Player in the Conference and the District. She was also chosen 1st Team All-Region, and 2nd Team All-American. Her team record was 140 wins and 50 losses. She still holds the team season record of double figure kills in a game (44), 2nd in total kills (661), and a team career record of kills (1520).
Rusty Crick notes, "During her years at Mesa State, she was a main ingredient in our team's success. Her efforts contributed to three conference championships and one second place finish, two national rankings, and brought national attention to Mesa. She was a credit to this institution as both a student and an athlete."
Currently Heather is reservations manager at Frias Properties of Aspen, a real estate and property management company that she has been with for almost 11 years. She lives in Carbondale with her husband, Matt, and son Nate (7) and son Kaid (1).
