Information as of 2002:  Jay is being recognized for his coaching and administrative 30-year career at Mesa State. He was Athletic Director for 12 years (1980-1992) and also served as Director of Housing and Director of the College Center during his MSC career. Jay served at President of the RMAC Athletic Directors (1985), President NAIA Region VII (1986) and NAIA Administrator of the Year (1988-1999). He is retired and enjoys fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.
Jay was also an outstanding athlete at Adams State College in the early 1960's. He first coached at Ordway and Delta High School for several years before coming to Mesa College. Jefferson played a key roll in the addition of the Outdoor Programs for students. Jefferson also help with the start of heavy fundraising for men's and women's athletic programs.
