Information as of 2005:  A graduate of Delta High School in 1958 where he excelled in wrestling and football. Voted Most Valuable Wrestler at Delta High School. Placed third his senior year in the Western Slope Wrestling Tournament. Attended Mesa College from 1959-1961. Two time National Champion in wrestling (1960 at 157 lbs, 1961 at 167 lbs). Selected Most Valuable Wrestler at the national tournament in 1960. Two time Empire Conference Champion (1960, 1961). Posted an 8-3 record as a freshman. As a sophomore recorded an 11-3 record (3 losses were to DI competitors) on his way to a national championship and a second place team title. Following graduation from Mesa Junior College Hines was recruited by the University of Wyoming where he was a two year letterwinner for the Cowboys, while pursuing his bachelor's degree. Taught and coached wrestling at Cokeville, WY for two years. In 1965 Hines moved back to Delta where he owns and operates Hines Farms. In 1990 he was named Outstanding Conservation Farmer and received the Safety Achievement Award in 2001. Hines enjoys flying single engine airplanes, snowmobiling and spending time at the cabin with family. Jerry and his wife, Sharon, have three sons, Brent, Cordell and Lance.
