Matt Bodenchuk played shortstop for the Mavericks from 2005-2009 and helped the Mavericks to four Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships during his time in Grand Junction. He guided the Mavericks to the 2009 NCAA Central Region Championship and the program's first berth into the NCAA National Championship tournament.

During his time, he played in 189 games and made 172 starts with a career batting average of .397. He finished his career with 65 doubles, eight triples, 35 home runs, 218 runs batted in and a .689 slugging percentage. All those marks rank in the top ten in program history. His 254 hits rank second in program history while his 218 RBIs and 65 doubles are all-time program records.

Bodenchuk not only rewrote the Colorado Mesa all-time record book, but he also made his mark on the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. His 218 runs batted in his career is still the all-time conference mark while his 65 doubles rank second all-time in the RMAC.

In 2009, the Boulder, Colo. native made a clean sweep of honors. He was named the RMAC Player of the Year, the Region Player of the Year by Daktronics and the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association and a consensus All-American.
