Information as of 2001: Jack Scott, a 1945 graduate of Fruitvale (now Central High School), entered Mesa College in 1948 after gaining top scoring honors and a high school conference championship. He was one of five high school basketball players who went on to play college basketball.

From 1948-1950 Jack was an instrumental player on Mesa's basketball team. He was named All-Conference in 1949 and 1950, was one of the tope ten scorers in the conference both years, and helped MSC win the Colorado Conference championship. Jack was named "Joe College" in 1950. He had a successful career as a high school coach at Hotchkiss from 1957-1963 where he led his team to the state tournament. He returned to Mesa State where he was assistant track and men's basketball coach from 1963-1967; head women's basketball coach from 1981-1985; and housing director and director of admissions and records for twenty-three years.

"Jack's loyalty, dedication and commitment to MSC for more than four decades are immeasurable," Tillie Bishop; friend and former coworker, said. "He was an unbelievable ambassador and recruiter of athletes and new students. Even today he continues to represent the college with honor and distinction."

Jack and his wife, Lena Mae, live in Grand Junction and have five children.
