Information as of 1999:  Shawn Smith is a 1981 graduate of Alameda High School in Lakewood, Colorado. An outstanding basketball player, he was named to the All-Jeffco Conference First Team, All State Team, and received All American Honorable Mention during his senior year. He led the entire state of Colorado in scoring that year with a 25.7 point per game average. He also posted average 7.7 rebounds and 3 + assists per game his senior year. In addition, Shawn lettered three years in baseball, graduated with a 3.6 GPA and ranked 60th in a class of 600. He attended Fruita Monument High School during his sophomore year, and was named All Southwestern Conference and All State Honorable mention in basketball. He attended Mesa College from 1983 to 1985, adding his name in the Mesa College basketball record books. Playing only two years for the Mavs, he set the school free throw shooting average at 87.5 percent; tied with Jon Baskin for the best scoring average at 24.5 points per game; was fourth in total number of free throws made; fifth in total number of field goals made, and became the school's sixth overall scoring leader. He went on to graduate from West Texas State in 1990. While playing for the Mavs, he helped lead the team to the NAIA National Tournament, led the district in scoring at 23.2 points per game, and free throw shooting at 90 percent. He was named All Conference First Team, and All America Second Team. He is presently New Accounts Manager for E.O.I. Service Company in Anaheim, California, where for the past three years he has been the national sales leader for his company. Despite his extensive business travel, he is active in community, church,civic, and charity organizations, and volunteers as a basketball coach for physically challenged children.
