General
  • Twelve different Maverick teams will be in action this week, five of which will be at home.
  • Nine different Maverick teams are nationally-ranked in various coaching organization or media polls, including five who are ranked inside the top 10.
  • The Mavericks will be accepting charitable donations of gently used shoes to during their Shoe Night promotion in conjunction with Thursday's basketball doubleheader against Fort Lewis.
  • On Saturday, the Mavs will host a Valentine's Day "For the Love of the Game" promotion in conjunction with their for their baseball and basketball games.  Fans can purchase two general admission tickets for $14.  A concessions "Cupid Combo" of two large fountain drinks and a large popcorn will also be on sale for $10. 
Swimming & Diving
  • The Mavericks will look for their eighth straight RMAC Championship title sweeps this week, hosting the RMAC Championships in the El Pomar Natatorium.
  • The 4 ½-day meet begins on Tuesday night with the 800 Freestyle Relays at 6 p.m.
  • Preliminary round swimming sessions will then be held at 10 a.m. each day Wednesday-Saturday.
  • Diving preliminaries will be at 2 p.m. on each of those days.
  • The evening finals will be contested at 5:30 p.m. each evening, Wednesday-Saturday.
  • All meet information, including the complete meet schedule and the ability to purchase tickets and access to the RMAC Network can be found on the RMAC Championships webpage.
  • The Mavs will enter the week as large favorites to repeat and lead the pre-meet psych sheets in 34 of the 42 events, including all 10 relays and all four diving events.
  • Antonia Leese (100 Breast), Kiara Borchardt (100 Fly), Tori Bartusiak (200 Fly) and Kenya Meyer (1 & 3-Meter) diving are defending champions for the Maverick women.
  • Richard Schmiedefeld (50 Free) and Ryan Campbell (3m Diving) will be looking to defend their conference crowns for the Maverick men.
  • CMU also swept all ten relay events in each of the past two years.
  • The Mavericks continue to sit third (women's) and fourth (men's), in the February edition of the CSCAA NCAA Division II Top 25 Dual Meet Poll, which was released on Friday.
Women's Basketball
  • The Mavericks, ranked fourth in the last Tuesday's WBCA Division II Coaches Poll, extended their winning streak to 21 games with 30 and 29-point road wins at MSU Denver and Regis on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.
  • CMU is now 24-1 overall and 14-0 in RMAC play and has already clinched a spot in the RMAC Tournament with three weeks to go.
  • The Mavs can clinch a top four seed and first round home game this week.
  • The Mavs have now won 31 consecutive RMAC games over the past two seasons.
  • In Thursday's 78-48 win at MSU Denver, the Mavs used an early 15-0 run to jump out to a 22-2 lead and outscored the Roadrunners, 36-14 in the first quarter.
  • Olivia Reed Thyne finished with 29 points and 16 rebounds to record her 11th double-double of the season.
  • Mason Rowland scored 14 of her 17 points in the opening quarter and hit four 3-pointers.
  • Hallie Clark also had 17 points, just one off her career-high.
  • The Mavs then won by 31 (67-36) at Regis on Saturday.
  • Reed Thyne again scored 29 points and pulled down nine rebounds.
  • Rowland had her sixth double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds.  She also added five assists as one of three Mavs (Hallie Clark, Mykaela Moore)
  • The Mavs held the Rangers to 30.0 percent (15-50) shooting and to a season-low 36 points.
  • The Mavs will return home for games against Fort Lewis (Thursday, 5:30 p.m.) and New Mexico Highlands (Saturday, 1 p.m.) this week.
  • Fort Lewis is 14-8 overall and 7-7 in RMAC play.  NMHU is currently 10-11 and 6-8 in the RMAC but lost by just one point in the earlier meeting between the teams.
  • The Mavs rank third in the nation for scoring margin (+23.1) and scoring defense (51.0) and fourth for field goal percentage defense (33.0).
  • Reed Thyne is now averaging 20.4 points and 10.5 rebounds per game and ranks third in the country for rebounds and fifth for points.
  • The Mavs' No. 4 national ranking is their best since the end of the 2013-14 season, when they were ranked as high as second.
  • The current 21-game winning streak is the second longest in program history, trailing only the 25-game streak that the Mavs used to post a 25-0 start to the 2013-14 campaign, when they reached as high as No. 2 in the national poll.
Men's Basketball
  • The Mavericks (15-7, 11-3 RMAC) claimed a pair of road wins in Denver and extended their winning streak to a season-best five games.
  • They held on for a 74-70 win at MSU Denver on Thursday night as Ty Allred scored a game-high 25 points while grabbing eight rebounds.
  • Clayton Jewell also had 12 points and eight rebounds while Harvey White had eight assists, helping the Mavs give Head Coach Mike Dunlap a win in his return to MSU Denver, who he coached to a pair of national titles before entering the NBA coaching ranks.
  • Ben Henderson then matched a season-high with 20 points on 8-for-10 shooting in Saturday afternoon's 95-69 win over Regis.
  • He was one of seven Mavericks in double figures as the Mavs had their best shooting effort of the season hitting 62.9 percent (39-62) of their field goal attempts and 54.5 percent (12-22) of their 3-pointers.
  • Tevin Reiehl had a career-high 11 points on 4-for-6 shooting while Jaylen Pitman scored 10 on 5-for-6 shooting.
  • With the wins and losses by Fort Lewis and Black Hills State, the Mavs moved into a tie for second in the RMAC standings with Black Hills State at 11-3.  Both teams trail Fort Lewis by just one game.
  • The Mavericks could forge a tie for the conference lead on Thursday when the Mavs host Fort Lewis (14-7 overall) at 7:30 p.m.
  • They will also play at home against New Mexico Highlands (10-15, 8-6 RMAC) on Saturday at 3 p.m.
  • Allred ranks second in the RMAC for both scoring (18.5) and rebounding (8.0) average.
Baseball Women's Wrestling Men's Wrestling Men's Lacrosse Women's Lacrosse Track & Field Women's Tennis
  • The Maverick women also opened their spring season at Idaho State, playing the Division I Bengals in a Sunday doubleheader.
  • After not playing in the fall, Jane Steur opened up her spring with a 7-5, 7-5 win at No. 6 singles in the first dual, giving the Mavs their lone win in the 6-1 opener.
  • The Bengals then won the afternoon dual, 7-0.
  • The Mavs will play three more indoor matches this weekend, heading to Kearney, Nebraska.
  • They will take on NAIA Hastings (Neb.) and NCAA Division II Midwest Region foe Northwest Missouri State on Friday before taking on host Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday.
  • The Mavericks will host an Alumni Reunion on the weekend of Feb. 27-28 in conjunction with their home matches against Utah Tech and Colorado College.
