General
  • Eleven different Maverick teams will be in action this week, including nine on Saturday alone.
  • Eight different Maverick teams are nationally-ranked in various coaching organization or media polls.
Men's Wrestling
  • After being off last week, the nation's 22nd-ranked Mavericks will return to the mat this week with their final two home duals of the season.
  • CMU will enter the week with a 4-3 overall and 1-2 RMAC dual record.
  • They will take on CSU Pueblo (4-6, 0-3 RMAC) on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the team's annual Bank of Colorado Battle in Brownson promotion.
  • They will then take on 17th ranked Chadron State (5-2, 3-1 RMAC) on Saturday at 4 p.m. in the first half of a men's and women's doubleheader against the Eagles.
  • Prior to the dual, the Mavericks will honor six seniors.
  • The Mavs are tied for 22nd in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association's Rankings, which were released on Jan. 22.
  • The Mavs also have a pair of nationally-ranked individuals in Owen Cline, ranked seventh at 157 pounds, and Gabriel Carranza, tabbed eighth at 197 pounds.
Women's Wrestling Women's Basketball
  • The Mavericks, ranked seventh in last week's WBCA Division II Coaches Poll, extended their winning streak to 19 games with home wins over CSU Pueblo and UCCS last week.
  • CMU is now 22-1 overall and 12-0 in RMAC play.
  • The Mavs have now won 29 consecutive RMAC games over the past two seasons.
  • Their 19-game winning streak is the program's longest since starting the 2013-14 season, 25-0 en route to a NCAA Sweet 16 appearance.
  • The Mavs won by 25 points (71-46) on Thursday night against CSU Pueblo as Mason Rowland led all scorers with 23 points and added seven assists, six rebounds and four steals.
  • Olivia Reed Thyne also added 22 points and grabbed ten rebounds to record a double-double, her tenth of the season and the 50th of her career.
  • In Saturday's 79-61 win over UCCS, the Mavs had five players finish in double figures.
  • Rowland led the way with 19 points, while making 13 of 14 free throws, the most for any CMU player in more than four years.
  • Brooke Eyre scored a career-high 13 points off the bench, making all five of her shots, including a trio of 3-pointers.
  • The Mavs rank third in the nation for field goal percentage defense (43.2), fourth for scoring margin (+22.4) and fifth for scoring defense (51.8).
  • The Mavs are now 9-0 at home this season.
  • They will be on the road in Denver this week, playing at MSU Denver (9-11, 7-5 RMAC) on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and Regis (0-12, 0-7 RMAC) on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Men's Basketball
  • The Mavericks (13-7, 9-3 RMAC) recorded a pair of home wins, defeating CSU Pueblo and UCCS.
  • The Mavs trailed by as many as 11 in the second half but used a 17-4 run to rally and claim a 70-66 win on Thursday night over CSU Pueblo, which had come into the game tied for the Mavs for third place in the RMAC.
  • Ty Allred finished the game with 20 points and eight rebounds while Havey White had 17 points and seven assists.
  • Allred then scored a career-high 33 points in Saturday's 95-83 win over UCCS.
  • Clayton Jewell (18 points, 11 rebounds) and Ben Henderson (16 points, 11 rebounds) both had double-doubles as well, marking the first time this season that the Mavs have had two players record double-doubles in the same game.
  • The Mavs have now won three straight, five of their last six and went 7-2 in the month of January.
  • They are now 8-1 at home this season.
  • Allred has been named to the Trevor Hudgins Top 25 Watch List as one of the top senior players in Small College Basketball.
  • Allred ranks second in the RMAC for both scoring (18.8) and rebounding (8.2) average.
  • CMU is in third place in the RMAC standings, a game behind Black Hills State, and two games ahead of four teams at 7-5.
  • CMU will be on the road this week, playing at MSU Denver (7-13, 5-7 RMAC) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and Regis (1-17, 0-12 RMAC) on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Track & Field Swimming & Diving Softball
  • The Mavs will open their 2026 season this week, playing eight games in California.
  • That stretch begins Wednesday with a 5 p.m. (MST) doubleheader at Azusa Pacific.
  • The Mavs will then play six times during the D2 West Coast Challenge over the weekend (Friday-Sunday) in Lake Elsinore.
  • They will play Biola and Cal State San Bernardino on Friday, Western Washington and host Cal State San Marcos on Saturday and Cal State East Bay and Vanguard on Sunday.
  • Three of the Mavs opponents this weekend in No. 3 Western Washington, No. 14 Cal State San Marcos and No. 17 Cal State East Bay are ranked in the NFCA Division II Top 25 Preseason Coaches' Poll.
  • The Mavericks were picked second in the RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, which was announced last Thursday.
  • The Mavs are coming off the 2025 season, when they went 40-17 overall and 35-9 in RMAC to take second.
  • The Mavs received three first place votes and tallied 109 points.  Colorado Christian received seven first place votes to top the poll with 117 points while MSU Denver picked up two third place votes to finish third in the poll with 102 points.
  • Redshirt sophomore pitcher Jessalyn Gallegos and senior outfielder Makayla Westmoreland were both named to the Preseason All-RMAC team, which was announced in conjunction with the poll.
  • The Mavs first home games will be on Feb. 28 and Mar. 1 against MSU Denver.

Baseball Men's Lacrosse Men's & Women's Tennis
  • The Mav men and women's tennis teams will begin their spring seasons this weekend as each will play a doubleheader at Division I Idaho State in Pocatello.
  • The men will take on the Bengals on Saturday at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. while the women will play them at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday.

  • Devyn Rodriguez will bring the spring ranked 35th nationally in the ITA's NCAA Division II rankings for women's singles.
  • She and Jade Brilhante are fourth and 14th in the West Regional rankings while the Mavs also have two regionally-ranked doubles teams in Catalina Ballon/Delia Maier (4th) and Valentina Gonzalez/Sophie Hartman (7th).
  • Emil Hultman and Henry Scheck are ranked 19th and 20th in the region for men's singles while Scheck and William Leschig stand fifth in the doubles rankings.
  • The Maverick women went 2-1, including a 2-0 record against Division II foes in fall duals while the Maverick men only competed in tournaments during the fall non-championship season.
  • CMU will play team matches as an independent this year and will contend for NCAA Tournament spots out of the South Central Region after playing in the Pacific West Conference and the West Region in recent seasons.
Women's Lacrosse Football
  • Wide receiver Trek Keyworth and defensive back Kash Bradley were named as NCAA Division II Academic All-Americans as selected by College Sports Communicators last week.
  • Keyworth was a first team honoree while Bradley was a second team pick while making CMU football history as the first 3-time Academic All-American in program history.
  • The Mavericks will welcome new family members on Wednesday, which is National Signing Day, the first day current high school seniors can officially commit to their college program of choice.
