COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Colorado Mesa University's
Ryan Campbell,
Guillaume Guth and
Olivia Hansson were all recognized by the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference as the Mavericks claimed three of the conference's swimmer and diver of the week honors, announced Thursday afternoon by conference officials.
The honors came after the trio led the Mavs at last weekend's tri-dual against NCAA Division I opponents Air Force and BYU in Provo, Utah.
Campbell, a senior from Delmar, New York, was named as the RMAC Men's Diver of the Week for the second time this season (Dec. 18) and the third in his two years with the Mavs. Named as last year's RMAC Diver of the Year, Campbell led the Maverick divers in both the 1 and 3-meter events in the double dual, finishing second in the 1-meter event with a score of 311.00 points while taking fourth on the 3-meter with 313.25 points.
Both efforts came in the 6-dive format and easily surpassed the NCAA Division II championship qualification standards of 285 (1m) and 295 (3m) points.
Guth has earned the RMAC Men's Swimmer of the Week award four straight and five times this season. The Toulouse, France native set a Richards Building Pool record of 43.43 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle and claimed second place finishes in both the 50 free (20.02) and 200 freestyle (1:36.55-altitude adjusted) while also helping the Mavs take second in both the 200 free and 400 medley relays as CMU was able to defeat Air Force, 183-170.
He continues to lead the RMAC in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle events and paces the country in the 100.
Hansson, a senior from Kivik, Sweden, won a pair of events during the weekend double-dual, taking both the 500 and 1,650-yard freestyle events. Her altitude-adjusted 500 free time of 4:49.90 was a season-best and extended her RMAC lead in that event. She also added a career-best time of 4:25.52 (altitude-adjusted) in the 400 individual medley and set NCAA Championship "B" cut times in all four of her events during the weekend.
She leads the RMAC in three individual events— 500 Free, 1000 Free, 1650 Free and has earned three RMAC Women's Swimmer of the Week honors this season and four her career, highlighted by ten CSCAA All-America honors and six RMAC titles.
The Maverick divers are in action on Thursday and Friday at Northern Arizona's Lumberjack Diving Invitational.
The Mavs will then host the RMAC Swimming & Diving Championships in the El Pomar, Natatorium from Feb. 10-14.
