Maverick men sweep RMAC Major Awards

Guth, Campbell, Moore, Wender take top honors as 18 men combine for 53 All-RMAC accolades

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— After winning an eighth straight Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference title and recording their best ever national championship finish, the Colorado Mesa University men's swimming and diving team swept the conference's major awards, which were announced on Thursday.

Guillaume Guth was named as the RMAC Swimmer of the Year while Ryan Campbell claimed the Diver of the Year honor for the second straight season.  Micah Moore received the RMAC Freshman of the Year honor while Mickey Wender was tabbed as the league's Coach of the Year.

All of the awards were decided by a vote of the conference's head coaches, who were not allowed to vote for their own athletes or themselves.

Wender, who has completed his seventh season as the Mavs' men's and women's swimming & diving head coach, also earned the RMAC Women's Coach of the Year honor.

His squads have won every RMAC title in his tenure and he now has six RMAC Coach of the Year accolades, including three men's honors.

He was also named as the 2024 NCAA Division II National Women's Coach of the Year.

In 2025-26, he guided the Maverick men to a third place team finish at the NCAA Division II National Championships.  The team also combined for 20 podium finishes at the national meet, including four combined runner-up finishes from Guth, Campbell and the 200 free relay team that Guth was a part of.  The Mavs also had four third place finishes at the national championships and qualified 14 individual swimmers, four divers and all five of their relay teams for the national meet.

That came after the Mavericks dominated the RMAC Championships, where they won 17 of the 21 events at the RMAC Championships, including all five relays and both diving events.

Eighteen Maverick men also combined to win 53 total All-RMAC honors, given to the top four finishers in each event.  Those all-conference honors were also officially announced in Thursday's RMAC awards release in conjunction with the major awards.

No other team had more than 12 honorees or 28 all-conference efforts.

Guth, a native of Toulouse, France, won the RMAC title in all seven events he competed, winning individual titles in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events as well as the 100 butterfly.  He also helped the Mavs win RMAC gold in the 200, 400 and 800 free relays and the 200 medley relay.

The 2024 Paris Olympian for his native country, set RMAC Championship records in the 100 free and 100 fly and in three of those relays.

At the NCAA meet, he earned First Team CSCAA (College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America) All-America honors in all seven of his events, placing second in the 100 free and 200 free relay and third in the 50 free, 200 free and 800 free relay.  He also now holds the Maverick record in six different disciplines.

In his two seasons as a Maverick after transferring from Monroe Community College in his home state, where he was a 4-time National Junior College Association of American All-American and the 2024 NJCAA 1-meter Champion, Campbell earned a maximum possible four CSCAA All-America honors, including three first team plaudits.  He also claimed two RMAC titles and four RMAC Championship medals while sharing the RMAC Championship Diver of the Meet honors with teammates in both years.

Moore, a native of Fort Collins and a 2025 graduate of Poudre High School, won the gold medal at the RMAC Championships in the 200 fly and led all RMAC freshman by scoring 75 points in his individual events at the conference meet.  He also reached the finals in the 200 and 400 individual medleys and the 100 fly.
