GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The No. 7 Colorado Mesa women's basketball team ran their win streak to 18 games despite a slow start in a 71-46 win over the visiting CSU Pueblo ThunderWolves on Thursday (Jan. 29) evening in the annual Blizzard in Brownson game.
The Mavericks, now 21-1 on the season and 11-0 in the RMAC, fell behind 13-9 after the first quarter behind 4-for-15 effort from the field. Meanwhile, CSU Pueblo shot 31.3 percent from the field to help build their lead.
After the first quarter, Colorado Mesa outscored the Pack 62-33 and wound up shooting over 50 percent from the field and a perfect 100 percent from the free-throw line. They shot 66.7 percent from the field in the second quarter and led 39-23 at halftime fueled by a 12-0 in the middle of the quarter.
The Mavs finished with a 41-23 rebounding advantage and had 19 assists, 12 more than the ThunderWolves.
Mason Rowland led all scorers with 23 points and finished with seven assists, six rebounds, and four steals in 35 minutes of action.
Olivia Reed Thyne had 22 points on 10-for-13 shooting and grabbed ten rebounds to record a double-double. It was her 10
th double-double of the season and 50
th of her career. She also had five assists without a turnover.
Mykaela Moore also had nine points and nine rebounds while chipping in three steals and two assists.
Seneya Martinez led the ThunderWolves (9-10 overall and 5-6 in the RMAC) with 12 points and helped lead CSU Pueblo to 12 steals, including six in the first quarter.
The Mavericks will be back in action on Saturday when they take on UCCS with tip-off scheduled for 1:00pm. The Mountain Lions were the last team to defeat the Mavericks in Brownson Arena which occurred in the 2025 RMAC Tournament final.
Saturday will also be Jersey Day where fans are asked to wear their favorite jerseys along with a prize drawing for a Nikola Jokic autographed jersey.
