Nation's seventh-ranked Mavs win 19th straight behind balanced scoring effort

Rowland scores 19 while Eyre tallies career-high 13 on perfect shooting afternoon

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— Five Colorado Mesa University Mavericks finished in double-figures as the Mavs recorded their 29th straight Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference women's basketball win over the past two seasons, 79-61 over visiting UCCS on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Mavericks, ranked seventh in the latest national poll, also extended their winning streak to 19 straight games and improved to 22-1 overall and to 12-0 in the conference.
 
UCCS, the only team to have defeated the Mavs in Brownson Arena over the last two seasons, fell to 12-8 overall and to 8-4 in the conference.
 
The Mountain Lions had won here in the regular season meeting in 2024-25 and again in the RMAC Tournament Championship game.
 
Mason Rowland led the Mavs in scoring with 19 points while shotting 13-for-14 from the free throw line.  Olive Reed Thyne also added 16 points while Brooke Eyre had a career-high 13 points off the bench, more than doubling her previous best of six.
 
Hallie Clark and Mykaela Moore also contributed to the Mav attack with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
 
Tamryn Blom also snagged a team and season-high nine rebounds.
 
UCCS star Amyha Moore Allen finished with 18 points for the Mountain Lions while Ayianna Johnson grabbed ten rebounds, including six on the offensive end to lead all players
 
The Mavs led 20-13 after the first quarter and increased the lead to 40-25 at the end of the half as the Cayden King and Eyre came off the bench to help lead the Mavs to a strong quarter as Reed Thyne and Rowland were both in foul trouble with two first-quarter fouls a piece.
 
The Mavs were also able to win the third and fourth quarters, extending their lead to as many as 20 points with 42 seconds remaining in the third.
 
The Mountain Lions were able to slice that deficit to just nine (67-58) with 4:09 left before Moore Allen was called for a fifth personal foul and then a pair of technical fouls for arguing the call.
 
Rowland then proceeded to nail all six of the ensuing free throws as the Mavs thwarted the mini-comeback to ice the win.
 
Her 13 made free throws were a career-high and the most for any Maverick in a single game since Dec. 17, 2021 when Mariah Martin made 18.
 
The Mavs were also 26-for-29 (89.7 percent) from the line in the game, which featured 40 fouls, including a technical on UCCS Coach Misty Wilson.
 
The Mavs were also able to shoot 45.3 percent (24-53) from the field while holding the Mountain Lions to a 38.6 percent (22-57) effort.
 
Eyre was 3-for-3 from beyond the arch and a perfect 5-for-5 from the field in here best game as a Maverick.  She also added four assist while Rowland finished with five.
 
Reed Thyne also added three blocked shots and six rebounds.
 
The Mavs' 19-game winning streak is their longest since starting 25-0 en route to a 30-2 season and NCAA Sweet 16 appearance is 2013-14.
 
The Mavs, who are 9-0 at home this season and 21-2 over the last two seasons, have now completed a 5-game homestand.  They will be in Denver next weekend facing MSU Denver on Thursday and Regis on Saturday.
