FLAGSTAFF, Ariz.— Ryan Campbell led the Colorado Mesa University Maverick diving squad in Friday's portion of the Lumberjack Diving Invitational, here at Northern Arizona University's Wall Aquatic Center.
The senior out of Delmar, New York, took fifth place in the men's 1-meter event with a final score of 608.50 points and surpassed the NCAA Division II Championship qualifying standard in both the preliminary and final round as the top-finishing Maverick throughout the day.

Ty Mitton (524.70),
Giani Benoit (524.60) and
Aiden Coon (418.30) finished seventh, eighth and 11
th, respectively.
Meanwhile,
Kenya Meyer led the Maverick women for the second straight day, advancing to the 18-woman final in the 3-meter event, finishing 13
th.
Campbell scored 312.65 points over six dives in the preliminary round and then added 295.85 more points in the 6-dive final.
Mitton and Benoit,
who led CMU in Thursday's men's 1-meter event, and Coon all improved during the finals. Mitton scored 276.65 points in his final six dives while Benoit scored 263.15. Coon had 218.10.
Meyer scored 250.80 points in the preliminaries and was in 12
th place before scoring 244.85 in the final round.
She was one of six Maverick women in the field.
Talia Datilio narrowly missed out on a spot in the finals, taking 19
th with 263.00 points while
Emma Lence (226.10) and
Jenna Hurley took 24
th and 25
th, respectively.
Mimi Licht (29
th, 211.00) and
Juli Holt (33
rd, 197.90) finished further back.
The Mavericks will not compete in the platform diving events of the meet on Saturday, which is not a NCAA Division II discipline.
The Maverick divers will join their swimming counterparts at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships, which CMU will host from Feb. 10-14 at the El Pomar Natatorium.
