ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— Joseph Randolph turned in a time of 6.82 meters and finished sixth in the invitational section of the men's 60 meters to lead a small group of Colorado Mesa University Maverick sprinters and hurdlers on Day 2 of the New Mexico Team Open on Saturday here at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
After setting a school-record time of 20.92 seconds in the 200 meters on Saturday,
Randolph moved into a tie for fifth on the Mavs' all-time performers chart in the 60. He had also posted a time of 6.83 seconds in the preliminary heats in the preliminary round while
Teo Casados finished just behind in 6.84 in the same heat.
Marik Cummings also had a solid time of 6.90 seconds to finish fourth in the unseeded section.
Amaris Mora was timed in 7.02.
In the hurdles,
Aidan Brownell finished in 8.49 seconds while
Logan Hafey turned in a time of 8.55.
On the women's side,
Hannah Schissler,
Brooke Miller,
Kaitlyn Pearson and
Kammi Merritt combined for a time of 3:51.13 in the 4x400-meter relay, the sixth fastest indoor time in school history.
Schissler had earlier posted a time of 7.85 in the 60 meters.
Meanwhile, Miller finished the 800 in 2:14.95 for the fifth best indoor time in program history, but off her school-record mark of 2:12.30. Teammate
Jordan Staniszewski was in a later heat and finished in 2:18.59 to move up three spots to fourth on the Mavs' all-time performers list.
Pearson also ran in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing in 9.16 seconds.
The Mavericks also had a contingent of athletes at the Mines Winter Classic in Golden, Colorado on Saturday.
