GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— Golfer
Leo Lavalle and five lacrosse players in
Deuce Kirschke,
Dillon Pless,
Brady Porter,
Reed Roughton and
Caleb Schreiber all represent Colorado Mesa University on the 2025-26 NCAA Division II Academic All-District® Team selected by College Sports Communicators for Men's At-Large Sports, recently released by the organization.
Of note, Lavalle, Kirschke, Pless and Porter have also been put on the national ballot for Academic All-America® honors, which will be voted on by CSC membership and announced on July 8.
Kirschke and Schreiber have been Academic All-District honorees in back-to-back years.
The full list of honorees come from a group of ten NCAA sports that do not have their own individual Academic All-District/All-America® teams.
To be eligible for nomination, student-athletes must have a 3.50 or higher GPA, be a sophomore or above both academically and athletically and meet lofty participation standards,
outlined here.
Furthermore, institutions are limited to six nominations per gender.
The Maverick women also had six selections from three different sports.
Lavalle, a sophomore marketing major from Queretaro, Mexico, was also named to the First Team RMAC All-Academic Team for men's golf and led the Mavericks to their first ever team title along with a seventh straight NCAA regional tournament appearance. He holds a 3.66 GPA and posted a team-leading 71.28 scoring average, second best in program history, over 30 ½ rounds and 11 tournaments.
Lavalle also earned PING NCAA Division II All-South Central Region honors and was the Mavs' lone First Team All-RMAC selection while leading the team to a No. 20 national ranking. He was ranked 57
th nationally by SCOREBOARD in the individual rankings.
Kirschke, a senior short stick defensive midfielder on the Maverick men's lacrosse team, posted a 3.80 GPA while majoring in business marketing. He was named to the First Team All-RMAC squad for the third straight season and was
USA Lacrosse Magazine Honorable Mention All-American this season after earning a similar honor from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association last year.
The Lone Tree, Colorado native helped lead the Mavericks to three RMAC regular season and three RMAC Tournament Championships in his career and is now a 2-time CSC Academic All-District® selection. He also claimed a pair of First Team Academic All-RMAC nods.
Pless, a senior finance major out of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, finished his career with a 3.69 GPA. The midfielder scored 26 goals this season and was tabbed as the RMAC Midfielder of the Year while also earning
USA Lacrosse Magazine Honorable Mention All-America honors. He was also named to the First Team All-RMAC squad in each of the past three seasons and also won three RMAC regular season and three RMAC tournament crowns in his time as a Maverick.
Porter, a redshirt junior defender from Parker, Colorado, is majoring in outdoor recreation studies and holds a 3.69 GPA. He also earned a repeat spot on the First Team All-RMAC squad this year and recorded 15 caused turnovers and 22 ground balls this season while anchoring the Maverick defensive unit that led the RMAC in defense, conceding just 8.73 goals per game.
He was also named as a
USA Lacrosse Magazine Honorable Mention All-American and earned RMAC Defensive Player of the Week honors this spring.
Roughton, a redshirt junior defender from Highlands Ranch, Colorado, has a 3.99 GPA and majored in business management. He earned Second Team All-RMAC honors this season as part of the heralded Maverick defense and was also named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll for the third straight year.
Schreiber, a senior short stick defensive midfielder out of Thornton, Colorado, graduated with a perfect 4.00 GPA while majoring in business management. He has now earned CSC Academic All-District accolades in back-to-back years and was a 3-time selection to the First Team Academic All-RMAC squad. He also was named as the RMAC Academic Player of the Year in 2025 and won the RMAC's Summit Award in both 2024 and 2026.
