Women's Soccer
  • The Mavericks, ranked 20th  in last week's national poll, remained unbeaten in RMAC play and posted their eighth and ninth consecutive shutouts over the weekend, tying eighth-ranked Colorado School of Mines, 0-0 on Friday night in Golden before winning 2-0 at CSU Pueblo on Sunday.
  • The Mavericks are now 11-2-1 overall and continue to lead the RMAC standings with a 7-0-1 conference mark, good for 22 points and a 2.75 per point match average.
  • Junior Keely Wieczorek matched and broke her own school-record for shutouts in a season, recording her tenth and 11th of the campaign.
  • The Mavericks outshot Mines, 27-8 in Friday's match as Wieczorek made two saves.
  • Sarah Dunn and Braelyn Baclayon then scored in the 73rd and 87th minutes, respectively, in Sunday's win over CSU Pueblo.
  • The Mavs outshot the ThunderWolves, 21-2 in that game as Wieczorek made one save.
  • She now leads the RMAC while ranking third in the country for shutotus, fourth for goals against average (.286) and fifth for save percentage (.913).
  • The Mavs have not conceded a goal in RMAC play and have held opponents scoreless for a combined 747 minutes and 49 seconds of total game time.
  • The Mavs have clinched a spot in the RMAC Tournament and will host two of their final three regular season games at home, both of which come this week.
  • The Mavs will take on second-place and national poll No. 14 UCCS (12-2-2, 8-1-1 RMAC) in a massive match on Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Community Hospital Unity Field.
  • The Mavs will then take on Regis (9-3-4, 5-2-3 RMAC) on Sunday at Noon in their CMU Camp/Youth Club Day match-up.
  • The RMAC Regular Season Championship and tournament seeding will be done on a points per match basis.
Football
  • The Mavs (4-4, 3-3 RMAC) claimed a 24-14 Homecoming win over Fort Lewis on Saturday afternoon.
  • Aiden Taylor ran 26 times for 163 yards and a touchdown, his tenth rushing score of the season.
  • He is now 192 yards shy of 1,000 for the season and will need to average just 64 per game to become the Maverick 1,000 yard rusher since David Tamm in 2017.
  • Taylor is the first Maverick to reach double figures since Tamm and Eystin Salem had 19 and 13 in 2017.
  • Brandon Belgrave also ran 13 times for 77 yards and a touchdown as the Mavs racked up 269 rushing yards in Saturday's wins.
  • FLC was allowing just 126 rushing yards per game coming in.
  • The win was the Mavs' third straight Homecoming win.
  • The Mavericks scored 24 straight points after spotting the Skyhawks and early 7-0 lead.
  • The Mavs are 3-1 at home this season.
  • Gibson Leafgreen made a team-high eight tackles and recorded two pass breakups as the Maverick defense gave up just 222 total yards.
  • The Mavericks are tied for fourth place in the RMAC standings and will play at Black Hills State (1-7, 1-5 RMAC) this Saturday at 1 p.m. in Spearfish, South Dakota.
  • The Yellow Jackets have lost four straight.
Men's Soccer
  • The Mavs (7-4-3, 4-1-2 RMAC) maintained their unbeaten home record (5-0-2) and extended their overall unbeaten streak to six as they picked up a win and tie over the weekend.
  • Maverick senior Manuel Ponce Casas scored the game-tying goal off a penalty kick with just 11 seconds remaining in Friday's 2-2 tie against Regis.
  • Nathan Hernandez and Kamden Kooiman then scored first half goals in Sunday's 2-0 Senior Day win over South Dakota Mines as the Mavericks recognized their seven seniors following the game, including Ponce Casas.
  • Grand Junction Central High School product Alejandro Jimenez made three saves in the win over the Hardrockers to record his first shutout as a Maverick.
  • Cain Castellon also scored in Friday's tie against Regis as Jimenez made his first start while making five saves.
  • The Mavericks continue to sit third in the RMAC standings with 14 points and have three games remaining in the regular season.
  • They will travel to Lakewood for a Friday morning (11 a.m.) game against Colorado Christian (2-9-3, 2-2-2 RMAC) before returning home to host MSU Denver in a massive match on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.  The Roadrunners are 7-3-5 overall and sit second in the RMAC standings with a 5-1-1 record and 16 points.
  • Sunday's game will be the Mavs' Camp/Youth Club Team day and is their final regular season home match.
  • The top six teams will qualify for the RMAC Tournament with the top two earning a quarterfinal round bye and the right to host a semifinal.
  • The third and fourth place teams will host quarterfinal match-ups.
Triathlon Cross Country Volleyball
  • The Mavericks (12-7, 6-4 RMAC) dropped a pair of matches last week, falling in four sets at home to Westminster on Tuesday before giving up a 2-set lead and falling 16-14 in the decisive fifth on Friday night at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden.
  • Sadie Scoville had a double-double in both matches, recording 11 kills and 14 digs in Thursday's match against Westminster and 12 kills and 19 digs against Mines.
  • Henley Madsen also added a dozen kills.
  • Karsen Breeding, Allison Waller and Ashlyn Tafoya then all had career-highs in Friday's match against Mines.
  • Breeding had 15 kills while Waller made a career-high 28 digs.
  • Tafoya had 49 assists, 17 digs and six kills while recording her eighth double-double of the campaign.
  • The Mavericks are now tied for sixth place in the RMAC standings with four conference matches remaining, all against teams below them in the conference.
  • The Mavs will take a break from official conference action this week, but will play in an RMAC Power Pod in Denver, taking on MSU Denver on Thursday and South Dakota Mines on Friday.
  • MSU Denver is 17-3 overall and tied for the RMAC lead at 9-1.  The Roadrunners were ranked 12th in last week's AVCA Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll, have won eight straight matches.  Their only conference loss was to the Mavs on Sept. 26.
  • South Dakota Mines is 7-13 overall and 5-5 in the conference and has won two straight and three of the last four.
Men's Swimming & Diving
  • The Maverick men, ranked fifth nationally, extended their RMAC dual winning streak that has lasted since 2016-17 to 14 with a 132-109 road win over No. 24 Colorado School of Mines on Saturday in Golden.
  • The Mavericks won seven of the 13 events in their first dual and third overall meet of the season.
  • Diver David Roethlisberger swept both the 1 and 3-meter diving events and set a CSM Natatorium record of 335.55 points on the 3-meter.
  • Luka Samsonov also broke the pool record in the 400-yard individual medley with a time 4:10.39 after teaming with Marcos Otero, Oskar Sawicki and Richard Schmiedefeld to give the Mavs the win in the 200 medley relay at the start of the swimming season.
  • Aron Jonson then later broke the pool record in the 200 breast with a time of 2:04.64.
  • Schmiedefeld (50 Free) and Holden Convertino (100 Free) were also victorious for the Mavs.
  • The Mavericks will be back in action this Friday for a Halloween afternoon dual at Division I Utah.
Women' Swimming & Diving Women's Wrestling
  • The Mavericks will open up the 2025-26 season with a jam-packed home weekend.
  • CMU will host the Fall Brawl on Saturday evening in Brownson Arena, taking on Snow College in an exhibition dual before hosting Texas Woman's in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference encounter.
  • Action will begin at 5 p.m. with the two visiting teams squaring off.  The schedule will then roll with the Mavs taking on Snow at approximately 6 p.m. before the Texas Woman's match-up at approximately 7 p.m.
  • CMU will then host the Maverick Open throughout the day on Sunday, starting at 9 a.m.
  • The Mavericks were picked second in the RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, released last week.
  • Simon Fraser, which won the regular season title for the second straight year, in 2024-25, topped the poll with 15 points and three first place votes.  The Mavs had the other two first place votes and finished second with 14 points.
  • CMU, which won the RMAC Tournament team title, did top the conference with five Preseason All-RMAC selections, made up of the top returning RMAC Tournament finisher from each weight class.
  • The Mavs' picks were Sophia Cornish (110 lbs), JoJo McDaniel (117 lbs.), Lorianna Piestewa (124), Hania Halverson (131) and Celina Preston (Cooke) (145).
  • The Mavs are also sixth in the National Wrestling Coaches Association's NCAA Women's Coaches Poll.
  • The Mavs have 42 points in the Tournament Power Index with six wrestlers ranked inside the top 10 of their respective weight classes.
  • That list includes Piestewa (2nd, 124 lbs.), Mia Zuniga (4th, 103 lbs.), Jayleen Sekona (4th, 207 lbs.), Bella Morales (5th, 110 lbs.), Gretchen Donally (7th, 145 lbs.) and McDaniel (10th, 117 lbs.).
  • Zuniga is a transfer from King (Tenn.).
Men's Wrestling Women's Basketball
  • The Mavericks will tip-off the season this weekend in Langley, British Columbia, Canada playing three games in as many days at the D2CCA Tip-Off Classic.
  • The Mavericks will play Western Washington on Friday at Noon (MDT), host Simon Fraser on Saturday at 6:45 p.m. (MDT) and Saint Martin's on Sunday at 3 p.m. (MDT).
  • The Mavs are coming off a 25-7 season in 2025-26 and won the RMAC Regular Season title for the second straight year.
  • They then advanced to the RMAC Tournament Championship game at the NCAA Tournament.
  • The Mavs have been picked first in the RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, topping the poll with 191 points.  They received nine first place votes.
  • Olivia Reed Thyne, the RMAC Player of the Year in the past two seasons, was named to the Preseason All-RMAC team.
  • Reed Thyne enters the season with 974 career rebounds to rank third in program history and is just 26 away from the 1,000 milestone and 58 away from the record of 1,032, held by Tonya Stites.
  • Reed Thyne (1,596) is also second behind Stites (1,920) in career scoring entering the season.
  • Western Washington was picked first in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference's Preseason Coaches' Poll while Saint Martin's was picked third.  Simon Fraser was tabbed seventh.
Women's Golf Men's Basketball
  • The Mavericks were picked third in the RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll that was released last week.
  • They received 158 total points in the polling, picking up one first place vote, three second place and six third place votes.
  • Redshirt senior Ty Allred and sophomore guard Harvey White were both named to the Preseason All-RMAC team.
  • Allred earned first team all-conference honors last season averaging 14.7 points and 6.4 rebounds per game
    White averaged 9.6 points and 3.0 assists per game in his freshman campaign last year.
  • The Mavs will begin the season on Nov. 14 at the D2 Conference Challenge in Dallas.
Rodeo Gala
  • The CMU Rodeo Team will host their fourth annual Rodeo Gala on the evening of Saturday, Nov. 15
  • The night will feature dinner and drinks, prize drawings and both silent and live auctions and a chance to spend time with people supporting the team.
