COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Colorado Mesa University's
Teo Casados was voted as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's Outdoor Men's Track Athlete of the Year for the second straight year while leading a group of 31 Maverick athletes who earned a combined to earn 45 all-conference honors for the recently completed 2026 season.
The major awards, including the track, field, freshman and coach of the year awards were selected by a vote of the conference's head coaches, who were not allowed to vote for their own athletes or themselves.
The First and Second Team All-RMAC honors were solely based on the athletes' finishes at the conference championship meet, which was held from April 24-26 in Pueblo, and officially announced in conjunction with the major awards, which were based on the season as a whole. The top three finishers in each individual event as well as the members of the winning relay teams earned first team accolades. The fourth through sixth place finishers in individual events and members of the runner-up relay squads garnered second team plaudits.
Both CMU squads took third place in the final team standings at the RMAC Championships.
Casados, a redshirt senior from Thornton, Colorado, successfully defended his RMAC titles in both the 100 and 200 meters and set a RMAC Championship and CMU record time of 20.79 seconds in the latter. He also helped the Mavs take second in the 4x100-meter relay at the RMAC Champions and qualified for the NCAA Championships in both the 200 and the relay.
He was also named as the Dr. Randy Rhine RMAC Track Performer of the Meet after accounting for a meet-leading 22 team points.
Casados' success was not limited to the championships, as he anchored the Mavs to a school-record smashing time of 39.62 seconds in the relay at the start of the season and set the fastest all-conditions time of 10.32 seconds in the 100 meters at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in early April.
Including his three overall all-conference honors from this outdoor season, Casados completed his career as a 14-time All-RMAC performer and the school record holder in six different events, including four outdoor disciplines.
