EMPORIA, Kan.— Joseph Randolph and
Hannah Schissler both earned second team all-America plaudits in the 200 meters to lead the Colorado Mesa University track & field team on Friday, the second day of the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships here at Emporia State University's Francis G. Welch Stadium.
Randolph posted a time of 20.84 seconds in the preliminary round of the men's 200 meters, the seventh fastest from the three preliminary round heats. He placed fifth in the what was the fastest of the three preliminary heats but did not reach the finals as two other runners with slower times from the first heat advanced to Saturday's final as the two fastest from that heat.
He will officially finish ninth in the event.
Despite that, the Wailuku, Hawai'i native earned his first U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-America honor at the NCAA Division II level after earning four NAIA All-America honors for Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois over the past two years.

Teo Casados finished 18
th overall in Friday's preliminaries, running to a time of 21.20 seconds in the first heat. That was the final race of his illustrious Maverick career, which saw him win six Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference titles while earning a First Team All-America honor with a seventh place finish in the 200 at this year's NCAA Indoor Championships.
In the ensuing women's section on Friday, Schissler posted a time of 23.86 seconds to finish 16
th overall while joining Randolph as a second team All-America honor, which go to the ninth through 16
th place finishers in the individual events. The plaudit is the first of the Carr, Colorado native's collegiate career. The sophomore had come in to the national meet seeded 17
th.
Two more Mavericks will compete on Saturday, the final day of the meet.
Izaak Siefken will contest the men's javelin at Noon CDT (11 a.m. Mountain) while
Megan Hodges will run in the women's 5,000 meters at 6:55 p.m. (5:55 p.m. Mountain).
