EMPORIA, Kan.— Colorado Mesa University's
Izaak Siefken earned an all-America honor with a 14
th place finish in the men's javelin while
Megan Hodges wrapped up the Mavs' 2026 outdoor track & field season with a 20
th place finish in the 5,000 meters in the twilight hours of Saturday, here at the NCAA Division II Championships.
Siefken recorded a throw of 63.18 meters (207 feet, 3 inches) on his third round attempt during early afternoon action, which proved to be good enough to allow the Broomfield, Colorado native to earn a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Championship Second Team All-America honor, which went to the ninth through 16
th placer finishers in each individual event.
The first-time national qualifier fouled on his first attempt and had a throw of 60.91 meters (199-10) in the second round of his series.
Meanwhile, Hodges turned in a time of 16:57.40 on the track, running much of the race in a large chase pack of the top three finishers, all of whom were from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Hodges, a native of Aurora, Colorado, was also making her NCAA Track & Field Championship debut but had run in the NCAA Cross Country Championships in each of the past two fall campaigns.
Siefken was one of four Second Team All-Americans the Mavericks had throughout the 3-day meet, joining
Kammi Merritt (400 Hurdles),
Joseph Randolph (200 meters) and
Hannah Schissler (200 meters).
