Men's Golf
Volleyball
- The Mavericks are now 6-3 overall and are off to a 2-0 start in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play for the third straight year.
- They were ranked 23rd in last week's American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division II/TARAFLEX Poll and have now been ranked in 44 consecutive national polls since early in 2022. New rankings are due out Monday afternoon.
- Senior outside hitter Sadie Scoville was one of three players with a double-double in Friday's 5-set victory at Adams State, recording season-highs with 19 kills and 18 digs. She then had 11 kills on .435 hitting in Saturday's 3-set sweep at New Mexico Highlands.
- Setters Addie Swanson and Ashlyn Tafoya both had double-doubles in Friday's win as well. Swanson set new season-highs with 36 assists and 11 digs to record her first career double-double.
- Macy Wood set season-highs with nine kills and seven blocks in the win over Adams State, CMU's tenth straight in the rivalry.
- The first four sets were all decided by the minimum two points before CMU pulled out the 15-12 fifth set win.
- CMU held NMHU below 20 points in all three sets and hit .365 in the sweep of the Cowgirls on Saturday.
- The Mavs have now won 17 straight decisions over the Cowgirls since 2011.
- After playing their first nine matches and three weekends of the season on the road, the Mavs will begin a 4-match homestand this weekend.
- They will take on RMAC Preseason favorite and 4-time defending champions MSU Denver on Friday night at 6 p.m. in their home opener. MSU Denver was ranked fourth in last week's national poll and is the only RMAC team to have defeated the Mavericks in Brownson Arena since 2021.
- The Roadrunners are 8-1 overall and 1-0 in the RMAC after surviving a 5-set battle at Colorado School of Mines on Friday.
- UCCS, off to a 9-0 (2-0 RMAC) start, their best in program history, will then enter Brownson Arena for a Saturday afternoon match at 3 p.m.
Women's Soccer
- The Mavericks, who were 12th in last week's national poll, capped the non-conference portion of the schedule with split results in the Los Angeles metro area.
- CMU, now 4-2 overall, suffered a 2-0 loss to Azusa Pacific on Thursday night but bounced back for a 2-1 win over Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday.
- Ally Wachtel and Kyle Wells scored in that victory over the Toros.
- Wells' 69th minute goal broke a 1-1 tie and was her third game-winner of the season.
- She has five goals on the season to lead the Mavs and rank second in the RMAC statistics.
- CMU is 3-0 at home this season and will open RMAC play at Community Hospital Unity Field, hosting pair of games this weekend.
- The Mavs are unbeaten in their last 11 home games (10-0-1) over the 2024 and 2025 season.
- The Mavs will take on Colorado Christian (1-3-1) on Friday night at 7 o'clock and MSU Denver (0-3-3) on Sunday at 1 p.m.
- The Mavs have won six straight decisions over Colorado Christian and have a 2-0-1 record against MSU Denver in the last three match-ups.
- A new national poll is slated for release on Tuesday.
Football
- The Mavs (1-2) started RMAC play on Saturday, falling to No. 12 CSU Pueblo, 31-24 in Saturday's Parent's Weekend game at Stocker Stadium.
- The Mavs led 17-7 and nearly pulled off a comeback from 31-17 down after giving up 24 straight points in between.
- CMU quarterback Liu Aumavae was 24-for-38 for 248 yards and three scores while completing passes to 11 different receivers.
- Freshman Bryson Brown had two catches for 80 yards, including a 69-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
- Trek Keyworth had five receptions for 50 yards while Noah Greer and Evan Morris also had touchdown receptions.
- Lex Leany made 12 tackles while George Soppe added ten for the Maverick defense.
- The Mavs will be on the road for the next two weeks, playing at Chadron State this Saturday (Sept. 27) before going to Golden for an Oct. 4 game at the Colorado School of Mines. Chadron State upset the 23rd-ranked Orediggers, 34-28 in Golden this past weekend to improve to 2-2 overall and to 2-0 in the RMAC. The win was the Eagles' first over Mines since 2012 and their first over a ranked team since 2018.
- The Mavericks will be gunning for their 500th win in program history since 1925.
Men's Soccer
- The Mavs improved to 2-0-1 at home and 2-2-1 overall as they claimed a high-scoring 4-3 win over Simon Fraser on Saturday morning in their only game of the week.
- Manuel Ponce Casas scored two goals just 70 seconds apart in the first half helping the Mavs go ahead 3-1 at halftime after falling behind 1-0 early on. He also had an assist on CMU's first goal, recording five of his team co-leading six offensive points this season in the game.
- Connor Chilson and Nathan Hernandez also scored for the Mavs while Nathan Beck made six saves to help CMU overcome the Red Leafs' 18-12 advantage in total shots.
- Eight different Mavericks have combined for 12 goals in CMU's first five games this season.
- The Mavs will play two RMAC opponents in games that will not count in the RMAC standings this week. They are at Adams State (1-3-1) for a Wednesday afternoon (3 p.m.) encounter before heading to South Dakota Mines (3-0-2) for a Sunday clash at 1 p.m.
- CMU's next four games will be away from home.

- The Mavs will wrap up their busy month of September and the fall season at this week's ITA West Regional Championships in Southern California.
- Biola is hosting the tournament, which will run from Thursday to Saturday.
- Emil Hultman and Romain Payan have led the Maverick men in the first two individual tournaments of the fall season, going 6-0 and 5-1, respectively so far.
- Payan and Jamison Pfingston are 4-1 in doubles.
- The Maverick women have also enjoyed a strong fall, going 2-1 in duals.
- Devyn Rodriguez is 5-1 in singles play while freshman Sophie Hartman is 5-0.
- Hartman and fellow freshman Valentina Gonzalez are also 6-0 in doubles.
Triathlon
Swimming & Diving
- The Mavericks hosted their annual intrasquad scrimmage on Friday afternoon.
- The Mavs will host the Intermountain Shootout on Oct. 3-4 to officially begin the season.
- The Mavs have swept the last seven RMAC titles and will learn their position in the RMAC Preseason Coaches Poll, which is slated for release this week.
