SHERIDAN, Wyo. – The Colorado Mesa women's golf team finished in third place at the Travis Roy Memorial Invitational. The tournament was contested at The Powder Horn Golf Club and hosted by South Dakota Mines.
The Mavericks shot a second round of 308 to finish the tournament at 36-over, 612 and finished in third place out of 12 teams in the field. They finished better than five Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams trailing only CSU Pueblo who won the individual team title and the Lone Star Conference's Texas A&M-International who finished in second place.
Anju Ogi and
Hunter Gledhill shot matching 3-over, 75s in the second round. Ogi finished with back-to-back rounds of 75 with two birdies and five bogeys on the day to finish in a tie for ninth. Gledhill finished with two birdies, three bogeys and a double in her final round to finish in a tie for 11
th on the individual leaderboard.
Payton Panzeri shot a 4-over, 76 in today's final round and was able to hold onto a top-10 finish, placing eighth. The senior had two birdies and six bogeys in Tuesday's final round.
Libby Bourassa shot a 10-over, 82 to round out the Maverick scorers.
CSU Pueblo's Thale Victoria Estensen won the individual medalist honor with a 4-under, 140.
Colorado Mesa will be back in action this weekend at the Wasatch Invitational in South Jordan, Utah. The Mavericks will play at Glenmoor Golf Course beginning on Sunday September 21.
