As a Redshirt Sophomore (2024): Voted on to the First Team RMAC All-Academic squad for the second straight year… Was later selected to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team... Also named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team
® for Cross Country/Track & Field... Ran in all five of the Mavericks’ meets… Led the team at the NCAA Division II South Central Regional, placing 53
rd overall in a time of 33:23.8… Was the team’s third finisher at the RMAC Championships, placing 56
th with a season-best 8K time of 26:04.9… Was in the team’s top seven at all five meets… Took 24
th at the Mountaineer/Cowboy Open before taking 56
th at the Roadrunners Invitational and 218
th at the Lewis Crossover Invitational.
As a Redshirt Freshman (2023): Was a RMAC All-Academic First Team selection... Ran in four meets, including both championship meets, as a regular in the Mavs’ scoring group… Finished 84
th at the RMAC Championships as the Mavs’ fifth finisher… Went on to place 94
th at the NCAA Division II South Central Regionals as the Mavs’ third… Posted a time of 33:00.1 in his lone 10K effort at the regional… Had a season-best 8K time of 25:20.7 at the Lewis Crossover Invite as the Mavs’ second runner… Opened the season with a 28
th place finish at the Mountaineer Invite as the team’s fifth finisher.
As a Freshman (2022): Redshirt season… Competed unattached in three meets, leading the group of Maverick redshirts in each… Finished 18
th at the Mountaineer/Cowboy Invite and would have been the Mavericks’ sixth runner if running for the team at both that and the Gig Leadbetter Maverick Stampede… Placed 23
rd at the home meet with a season-best 8K time of 26:05.6…. Was 15
th at the Durango Open, held in conjunction with the RMAC Championships.
Prep: 2022 graduate of Otsego HS… Earned all-conference, county and region honors as a senior cross country runner in the fall of 2021, helping the Steve Long coached Bulldogs to a team state title… Finished third at the Wolverine Conference Championships and at the Allegan County Meet before taking eighth at the Lower Peninsula Region 12-2 meet that the Bulldogs hosted… Went on to run a personal record time of 16:29.17 to finish 36
th individually at the state meet… Finished 79
th at the NXR Midwest Regional Championships and 116
th at the Eastbay Region Championships later in November… Was a 3-event conference champion on the track as a senior in the spring of 2022, winning the title in both the 1,600 and 3,200 meters as well as in the 4x800-meter relay… Was the regional champion in the relay and the runner-up in the 1,600… Finished 11
th at the state championships in the 1,600 with a PR time of 4:23.58… Took 22
nd at state in the 3,200… Holds other PRs of 1:59 (800) and 9:31 (3200)… Earned Academic All-State honors for cross country in 2021.
Personal: Is majoring in mechanical engineering with aspirations of working in the aerospace or renewable energy fields… Son of Chad and Teresa Brown… Is the middle of three brothers (Kyle & Trey)… Enjoys disc golfing, biking, hiking, camping and skiing.
