Swimming & Diving
  • The Mavericks competed last week at the UNLV Invitational in Las Vegas, Nevada.

  • The Maverick men won the team title, besting four NCAA Division I teams.  The Mavs scored 996 ½ team points to finish 207 ahead of the host Rebels.  They also beat Wyoming, Cal Baptist and Pacific.
  • The Maverick men won seven events, claiming four of the five relays as well as the 50 Free, 100 Free and 200 Breast.
  • Guillaume Guth won both the 50 and 100 Free and was named as the RMAC Swimmer of the Week on Thursday.
  • Aron Jonsson claimed the 200 Breast.
  • Ryan Campbell was named as the RMAC Diver of the Week after second and third place finishes.
  • The CMU women also fared well taking third out of seven teams, beating three Division I squads in Wyoming, Cal Baptist and Pacific.
  • Antonia Leese won the 100 Breast and helped the Mavs take the 200 medley relay win.
  • Both CMU squads moved up two spots in the December edition of the CSCAA Top 25 Dual Meet polls, which were released on Friday.  The Maverick women are now ranked third while the men are fourth.
  • CMU will next compete on Jan. 17 against Denver and Wyoming in Denver.
Women's Basketball
  • The Mavs, ranked 11th nationally in last week's WBCA NCAA Division II Coaches Poll, extended their winning streak to ten with a pair of convincing wins at the Nighthawk Classic in Nampa, Idaho.
  • The Mavs, now 13-1 on the season, won by 15 points (67-52) over host Northwest Nazarene on Friday before posting a 31-point (86-55) win over Seattle Pacific on Saturday.
  • Mason Rowland (13 points, 11 rebounds) and Olivia Reed Thyne (14 points, 10 rebounds) both recorded double-doubles in Friday's win as five different Mavericks finished in double figures for points.
  • Mykaela Moore (12 points), Cayden King (11) and Hallie Clark (10) were in that group.
  • Reed Thyne then scored a season-high 37 points while grabbing 16 rebounds in Saturday's win over Seattle Pacific.
  • She now has seven double-doubles this season, including five in her last seven games.
  • Rowland and Moore also chipped in 18 and 13 points, respectively.
  • Reed Thyne (18.6) and Rowland (17.8) rank second and third in the RMAC statistics for scoring average.  Reed Thyne is also second in the conference for rebounding (10.6) and third for field goal percentage (.568).
  • Rowland is second for both 3-point percentage (.405) and free throw percentage (.815).
  • The Mavs finished the 2025 calendar year with a combined 31-3 record, recording 18 and 10-game winning streaks in the two seasons.
  • CMU will begin 2026 at home on Jan. 3 against Regis at 1 p.m.
Men's Basketball Women's Wrestling Men's Wrestling
  • The nation's 18th-ranked Mavericks sent a partial team to Sunday's Reno Tournament of Champions in Reno, Nevada.
  • None of the ten Maverick starters who had competed at the Midwest Classic on the previous weekend, made the trip.
  • Apollo Cruz led the group in Reno with a 3-2 record in the 141-pound bracket.
  • Murphy Harris (133), Christian Pebley (174) and Joe Trygstad (184) all reached the championship quarterfinals of their respective brackets.
  • The Mavs continue to sit 18th in the National Wrestling Coaches Association's NCAA Division II Coaches Rankings.
  • They have three ranked individuals in Alex Castaneda, sixth at 149 pounds, Owen Cline (7th, 157) and Gabriel Carranza (7th, 197).
  • CMU will resume the season on Friday, Jan. 9 at the Western Colorado Open before competing in the Tracy Borah Duals on the following day (Jan. 10) in Gunnison.
