Maverick trio named to CSC Academic All-District® squad

Alrashed, Scoville, Wood pick up honors

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.— Colorado Mesa University volleyball standouts Aesha Alrashed, Sadie Scoville and Macy Wood were all named to the NCAA Division II Academic All-District® Team as selected by College Sports Communicators, the organization announced on Tuesday.
 
Scoville was also advanced to the ballot for CSC Academic All-America® honors that will be voted on by CSC membership.  Those honors are scheduled to be released on Jan. 13.
 
To be eligible for Academic All-District® honors, volleyball student-athletes must have a 3.50 or higher cumulative GPA and be at least a sophomore, both academically and athletically.  They must have also played in 90 percent of their team's matches or start 66 percent of them.
 
Scoville, a senior from Pleasant Grove, Utah, holds a 3.76 GPA and is majoring in liberal arts.  She has now received CSC Academic All-District honors in each of the past three years, doing so at CSU Pueblo in both 2023 and 2024 before transferring to the Maverick program this year to continue her career with Head Coach Austin Albers, who wrapped up his first year with the Mavs with a 17-11 record and the program's record-setting fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
 
Scoville led the Mavericks from her outside hitter position, recording 342 kills, 400 total points 31 service aces to pace the team in each category.  She started all 28 matches and received First Team All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference honors and was named as the RMAC Offensive Player of the Week three times while earning a pair of all-tournament honors at the start of the season.
 
Wood, a junior middle blocker from Alta, Utah also transferred from CSU Pueblo and started 24 times for the Mavs, finishing with 101 kills and 65 total blocks while hitting .295.  Academically, she holds a 3.75 GPA and is majoring in biology.
 
Alrashed, a redshirt junior middle from Greeley, Colorado, holds a 3.51 GPA and is majoring in business administration.  She earned Honorable Mention All-RMAC honors for her on-court play, finishing the season with a team-high 108 blocks while finishing third in the RMAC for blocks per set (1.05).  She also recorded 147 kills and hit .257 while starting all 28 of the Mavs' matches.
 
Alrashed has been with the Mavs four seasons, including her 2024 redshirt year, and has been named to the RMAC's All-Academic Honor Roll in both season that she has been eligible for the honor.
