COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Colorado Mesa University cross country standouts
Chase Brown,
Autumn McQuitty and
Jordan Staniszewski were all named to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's All-Academic First Team while leading 22 Maverick runners named to the conference's all-academic honor roll, which the conference announced on Thursday afternoon.
The 14-member men's and women's first teams were selected after a vote of the conference's athletic communications directors, who weighed both the athletic and academic accomplishments. To be eligible for nomination to the first team, student-athletes must have a 3.50 or higher cumulative grade point average, have completed two consecutive semesters at the nominating institution and have used a season of eligibility in 2025.
To be named to the honor roll, student-athletes must have at least a 3.30 or higher GPA and meet the other requirements.
Brown, a civil engineering major with a 4.00 GPA, has now received five first team accolades in his Maverick running career, including in three straight cross country season from 2023-25. The Bloomington, Michigan native also completed the 2025 calendar year sweep of RMAC Summit Awards, given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA and conference championship sites, earning this fall's cross country honor after winning both the indoor and outdoor track & field honors in the winter and spring of 2025.
He led the Mavericks at both of the team's fist two meets and was amongst the Mavs' top three runners in all five meets this fall, including at the RMAC and South Central Regional Championships where he placed 62
nd and 60
th, respectively.
McQuitty, a mass communications major with a 4.00 GPA, has now earned four career RMAC First Team All-Academic honors. The Alamosa, Colorado native was amongst the top five Mavs at each of the team's six meets and helped them qualify for the NCAA Division II Championships for the second straight year.
She was fourth on the team and set a 6-kilometer season-bet time of 22:20.2 to help the Mavs to their best ever national championship finish (20
th). She had also placed 57
th as the team's fifth finisher at the RMAC Championships and was the team's No. 4 runner and 60
th overall finisher at the South Central Regional as CMU had their best regional finish since 2014.
Staniszewski holds a 3.91 GPA and is majoring in exercise science. The Highlands Ranch, Colorado native, earned Second Team All-RMAC honors with a 28
th place finish at the conference championships, where she ran to a 6K personal-best time of 21:58. She also finished third on the team and 113
th overall at the NCAA Championships and was the team's second runner at the South Central Regional Championships after recording a pair of two early-season top 20 finishes.
McQuitty and Staniszewski led a group of 12 Maverick women named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll. They were joined by
