Points & Awards
The Mavericks will be gunning for team points and all-conference awards throughout the weekend. The top eight finishers in each event will earn team points, awarded on a 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis.
Additionally, the top six finishers in each individual event will claim All-RMAC awards with the first three finishers claiming medals and podium positions along with first team plaudits. The fourth through sixth placer finishers will garner second team honors.
In the relay events, the winning team members will be named as first team all-conference honorees while the second place team members will claim second team accolades.
The RMAC will also recognize the Track Athlete of the Meet, the Field Athlete of the Meet and the Freshman of the Meet based on the total number of points athletes earn.
Finally, the RMAC will recognize the Summit Award winners, an honor given to the student-athlete with the highest academic grade point average competing at the meet.
NCAA Lists
In addition to looking for points and awards, this weekend's meet will also be the final opportunity for Mavericks and other RMAC athletes to qualify for next month's NCAA Division II National Championships.
Those selections will be made in a similar method as the conference championship selection process but on a national scale and some differences. The top 18 declared athletes in each of the individual event qualifying. The top 16 combined event performers (heptathlon/pentathlon) will also receive an invite to the Mar. 13-14 NCAA Division II National Championships in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The top 12 relay teams will also be selected.
This procedure is identical to 2024-25, but a slight tweak from previous seasons when the number of qualifiers in each event varied slightly when the national committee used a "desired field size" mandate, rather than a hard cutoff.
The Mavs now have nine qualifying marks in seven different events from a combined seven individuals plus three others who were only on the DMR team.
Here is a look at the current Maverick rankings on
the national lists, although it should be noted that the lists tend to change rapidly over the weekend, when a majority of Division II teams compete in their respective conference championship events.

In the Polls
Both Maverick squads were picked fifth in the RMAC Preseason Coaches' Polls, which were announced by conference officials in early December.
The Maverick women received four third place votes and picked up 142 total points in the 15-team poll. CMU's men received three third place votes and scored 100 points in the 13-team poll.
In conjunction with the polls, the RMAC also announced the preseason all-conference team, made up of one returning athlete in each individual event and based on last year's NCAA and RMAC Championship results.

A look back & Championship history
The Maverick women took third at last year's RMAC Indoor Championships, scoring 87 points in what was Director of Cross Country/Track & Field
Travis Floeck's first year with the program. The Mav women have now finished third in three straight years and have placed second or third in each of the last five and amongst the top four in six straight campaigns.
The Maverick men finished sixth at the RMAC Championships with 41 points.
The Mavs' highest ever finish on the women's side was back-to-back second place finishes in 2021 and 2022. They scored a program-record 110 points in 2021 and have tallied 78 or more points in each of the last six years while crowning at least one conference champion in those six years.
The men also recorded a second place finish in 2022 and scored a program-record 106 team points in 2024. The Maverick men have had at least one individual champion in eight out of the last ten years.
All-Conference returners
The Mavericks had 17 different athletes earn 20 total All-RMAC honors at the 2025 RMAC Indoor Championships. All four of the Maverick men who garnered five total plaudits returned to this year's roster, although two of those men have redshirted this season and will not compete this weekend.
Eight of the 13 Maverick women who combined for 15 total all-conference honors a year ago are back on the 2025-26 Maverick roster. Six of those women are competing this weekend while the other two have redshirted this indoor season.
