ALLENDALE, Mich.— Brooke Miller, Kammi Meritt,
Jordan Staniszewski and
Megan Hodges combined to smash Colorado Mesa University women's distance medley relay record by more than 21 seconds as the quartet turned in an NCAA Division II Championship provisional qualifying time of eleven minutes, 48.60 seconds during the GVSU Big Meet-Saturday.
The Mavs' Valentine's Day effort puts them 20
th on the national performance list and obliterated the Mavs' former record of 12:09.89 that had been set on the holiday a year ago at the 2025 Ichabod Invitational in Topeka, Kansas. Hodges, who ran the opening 1,200-meter leg on that day, and Staniszewski were also a part of that former effort.
The Maverick men also had three men in action as
Chase Brown won the 3,000 meters in 8:29.47, a 23.53-second personal best improvement that allowed him to jump seven spots to third in program history.
Colton White also recorded a solid effort of 8:43.79 to place 14
th in that race.
Meanwhile,
Kyle Towne ran in the 800 meters for the second straight day, finishing 18
th in 1:56.46.
The Mavericks also had athletes in action at two other indoor track & field meets around the country
in Colorado Springs and
Albuquerque, New Mexico on Saturday.
