Three Mavs earn First Team Academic All-RMAC honors

46 Mavs named to indoor honor roll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Now 3-time indoor and 4-time overall selection Jordan Burnett, Chase Brown and Autumn McQuitty were all named to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's First Team All-Academic squad while leading 46 (19 men, 27 women) Maverick indoor track & field athletes named to the conference's All-Academic Honor Roll, which was released on Tuesday afternoon.

The Mavs' total of 46 honor roll selections is the second highest in the 15-team conference.  A total of 344 athletes (168 men, 176 women) were recognized.

The complete list of the recognized Mavericks can be found below.

To earn selection, student athletes must maintain a 3.30 or higher cumulative grade point average, have completed two consecutive semesters at their current institution and have used a season competition.

Each institution's athletic communications directors nominate student-athletes who academically maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, along with the other criteria for the Academic Honor Roll, for recognition on the First Team Academic All-RMAC in each sport.

The league's athletic communications directors for that sport then vote to compose the First Team Academic All-RMAC squad and select the Academic Athlete of the Year. They are not permitted to vote for their own student-athletes.

Brown, a redshirt sophomore and civil engineering major out of Bloomingdale, Michigan, holds a 4.00 GPA and was named as the RMAC's Summit Award Winner for having the highest GPA of any men's student-athlete at the RMAC Championships.

In 2025, he anchored the Mavs' to a school-record time of 10:11.53 in the distance medley relay at the Ichabod Invitational and also set a career-best time of 4:23.31 at that meet to rank seventh in program history.  Brown is now a 5-time RMAC Academic Honor Roll pick in cross country and track & field and had been named to the First Team Academic All-RMAC squad after the 2023 and 2024 cross country seasons.

Burnett, a redshirt junior exercise science major from Fairplay, Colorado, holds a 3.94 GPA and was the RMAC Champion in the 400 meters this year.  She has now been named to the First Team Academic All-RMAC squad for three straight indoor seasons and was also picked to the outdoor team in 2023.  She is also a 5-time RMAC Academic Honor Roll pick and is a 2-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-American.

On the track, Burnett turned in another impressive season, leading the RMAC performance list in the 400 meters with a NCAA Division II Championship provisional qualifying time of 55.65 seconds at the RMAC Last Chance Qualifier before winning the conference crown for the second time in three years.

Burnett holds the school record in three events, including the indoor 400 at 55.45 seconds and is a 2-time U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-American and 3-time all-region pick.  She has won three RMAC titles and is a 5-time first team and 8-time overall All-RMAC performer.

McQuitty is a sophomore mass communications major from Alamosa, Colorado and holds a 4.00 GPA.  She was also named to the First Team RMAC All-Academic squad during the cross country season.

McQuitty helped the Mavs smash a 9-year old school record by nearly 18 seconds in the distance medley relay with a time of 12:09.89 at the Ichabod Invitational.  She also set a career-best time of 5:10.27 in the mile at that meet to rank fourth in CMU history and went on to anchor the Mavs to a seventh place finish in the DMR with converted season-best of 12:07.50 at the RMAC Championships.
