2025 Outdoor (Redshirt Sophomore): Ran in four meets, contesting four different disciplines… Qualified for the RMAC Championships in the 10,000 meters, placing 23
rd with a career-best time of 32:26.53… Ranks tenth in program history with that mark… Has qualified with a time of 32:30.31 at the Mines Kit Mayer Classic… Set times of 2:05.92 (800) and 4:11.34 (1500) at the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Early Bird to open the season… Ran the 5,000 meters at the Mavs’ home meet in 15:21.51… Ranks tenth in program history for that event as well… Named to the RMAC Academic Honor Roll.
2024-25 Indoor (Redshirt Sophomore): Ran in four meets, enjoying a strong season… Smashed a 10-year old school record by more than 13 seconds with a 5K time of 15:08.26 at the Ichabod Invitational… Also moved into the top 10 of Maverick history in the mile with a time of 4:25.62 at that meet… Ranks sixth in CMU history in the 3K after posting a time of 8:51.23 at the Colorado Invitational… Named to the RMAC Academic Honor Roll.
2024 Outdoor (Redshirt Freshman): Named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll… Posted a 5K time of 15:33.45 at the Maverick Invite & Multi… Finished third in that race, his only one of the season.
2023-24 Indoor (Redshirt Freshman): Named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll… Ran in two meets, contesting the 5K at both the Big Red Machine and Western Colorado Opens in Gunnison… Had a season-best time of 16:06.68 at the prior.
2022-23 (Freshman): Redshirted during both the indoor and outdoor seasons… Did run unattached at two indoor meets… Had a 3K time of 9:28.67 at the Western Colorado Alumni Open and a 5K time of 16:27.26 at the Mines Winter Classic & Multi.
Prep: 2022 graduate of Gunnison High School… Was coached by Lance Betts and Blake Davis… Was a 4-time state qualifier in cross country and a 2-time state qualifier in track… Finished 11
th in the 3,200 meters as both a junior and senior after running a PR of 9:51.95 earlier in his 2022 senior season… Won the league title as well… Finished 25
th at the 3A State Cross Country Championships in the fall of 2021 after finishing second at the regional meet, one of five top-5 finishes he had throughout the year… Had placed 40
th at the state meet as a junior in 2020… Placed 37
th at the NXR Southwest Regional meet with a XC PR of 17:05.80.
Personal: Is majoring in computer science… Intends to purse a career as a software engineer or in cybersecurity… Son of Wade and Nichole Baker… Has two younger siblings— Hayden and Ian… Likes to game and hang out with friends as well as going on long runs.
Why I Chose CMU: “I wanted to be a part of an up and coming team and I loved the system Coach Niksic has in place. The campus also has lots of opportunities and has the college feel.”
