2025 Outdoor (Redshirt Junior): Competed in five meets, including the RMAC Championships… Qualified in both the 100 and 200 meters as an individual… Also ran on both of the Mavs’ relay teams at the conference meet… Won a silver medal and Second Team All-RMAC honors in the 4x100-meter relay after helping the Mavs to a second place and school-record setting time of 40.21 seconds… Helped the Mavs set a season-best time of 3:20.13 in the 4x400-meter relay, good for ninth place… Helped CMU win both relays at the Maverick Invitational… Placed 14
th in the 100 (10.96) and 22
nd in the 200 (22.33)… Set wind-aided career-bests of 10.71 (+4.0) and 21.53 (+3.7) in those individual events at early season meets… Was ranked 15
th in the 100 and 18
th in the 200 on the RMAC season-long performance lists with altitude-adjusted times of 10.74 and 21.60… Named to the RMAC Academic Honor Roll... Went on to be named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Team for the second straight year... Also named to the USTFFCCA All-Academic Team for the first time.
2024-25 Indoor (Redshirt Junior): Named to the RMAC Academic Honor Roll… Competed in six meets, qualifying or the RMAC Championships in the 200 meters… Finished second while posting season-best time of 21.89 seconds to rank fourth in program history at the Colorado Invitational… Was tied for tenth on the RMAC’s season-long performers list with the converted time of 21.96… Placed 11
th at the conference meet in 22.53… Also helped the Mavs score a fifth place finish in the 4x400-meter relay at the RMAC Championships… Ran the third leg on the team that posted a time of 3:21.70, eighth fastest in program history… Also was a part of the No. 7 ranking squad that ran to a mark of 3:21.64 at the Colorado Invitational… Helped the Mavs win the relay at the Mountaineer Open in 3:27.21… Had three second place finishes in individual events… One came thanks to a season-best 60-meter time of 7.03 seconds at the ASU Qualifer #1… Ran the 400 meters in 51.85 seconds on the following day at the ASU Qualifier #2.
2024 Outdoor (Redshirt Sophomore): Selected for College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors… Named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll… Competed in four meets, running the 200 meters at each… Also ran the 100 in the Mavs’ first three meets… Set a career-best wind legal 200 time of 21.65 seconds to finish ninth at the RMAC Championships… Ranks seventh in CMU history with that time… Took second at the Maverick Invite & Multi with a time of 21.88… Had an all-conditions best of 21.47 at the Maverick Invite #2… Set a wind-aided season-best of 10.82 in the 100 at the Maverick Invite & Multi after posting an official career best of 11.05 at the CSU Pueblo Spank Blasing meet.
2023-24 Indoor (Redshirt Sophomore): Named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll… Ran in four meets… Competed in the 200 meters at each and in the 60 meters on two occasions… Had a season-best time of 22.25 in the 200 on a banked track at the New Mexico Team Open… Went on to take 12
th at the RMAC meet in 22.69 seconds on a flat track… Had a season-best 60 time of 7.10 seconds at the Big Red Machine Open.
2022-23 (Sophomore): Did not compete in either season.
2022 Outdoor (Freshman): Redshirt season… Competed unattached at the Maverick Invite #2, finishing the 100 meters in 11.07 seconds.
2021-22 Indoor (Freshman): Competed in the sprinting events in six meets, including the RMAC Championships… Finished 17
th in the 60 meters at the conference championships with a time of 7.23 seconds after qualifying thanks to a season-best of 7.05 at the Mountaineer Open & Multi… Posted a season-best time of 22.32 seconds in the 200 meters at the New Mexico Classic to rank seventh in program history… Had a 400-meter time of 52.22 seconds at the Western Colorado Open in his lone attempt at that discipline.
Prep: Led the Erie High School Tigers to a 2021 Colorado State Championship in the 4x200-meter relay… Also helped them place third in the 4x100… Finished fifth in the 200 and seventh in the 100-meter dash at the state meet, earning all-state honors in four events… Set PRs of 11.09 and 22.28 in those events during his 2021 senior campaign, which five 200-meter meet wins… Finished second in the 200 and fourth in the 100 at the Northern Colorado Athletic Conference League meet… Helped the Tigers win the 4x100-meter confernece title earning all-conference honors in four events... Earned all-conference honors in Also won the 400-meter crown at the Erie Tiger Invite and set a PR of 52.36 later in the season… Had indoor PRs of 7.27 (60) and 22.79 (200) at the Colorado Elite Winter Series #2 meet in February.
Personal: Is majoring in computer science… Wants to become a software engineer and possibly move up the ladder to a software architect… Also have ideas about getting into the newer field of data science… Son of Cory and Allison Hartel… Younger sister is Maddie.
Why I Chose CMU: “I chose CMU because it was a great opportunity for me to be among some of the best athletes in the country. We would be able to push each other to our best. CMU also has a great computer science program so it was also a win on the academic side."
