COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Colorado Mesa University's Kenya Meyer and Dejan Urbanek were named as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's Swimming and Diving Academic Athletes of the Year as the Mavericks dominated the First Team RMAC All-Academic Teams, which were released on Friday by the conference.
 
Meyer, a junior diver out of Bozeman, Montana, led a group of ten Mavericks on the 16-team women's first team while Urbanek, a senior butterfly and freestyle swimmer from Novi Sad, Serbia, paced a group of nine Maverick men to receive first team honors, more than doubling the total of any other school (Colorado School of Mines, 4).
 
CMU's ten women's first team selections were five times to total for any other RMAC squad.
 
The first team units were selected by a vote of the league's athletic communications directors, based on a combination of athletic and academic accomplishments.  They are not permitted to vote for their own student-athletes.  Meyer and Urbanek were the top vote recipients on their respective ballots.
 
Additionally, 40 total Mavericks (21 women, 19 men) were named to the RMAC Academic Honor Roll.
 
To be eligible for the selection to the honor roll, student-athletes must have 3.30 or higher cumulative GPA, have completed two consecutive semesters at their current institution and have used a season of competition.
 
To be nominated for the first team, the student-athletes must have a 3.50 or higher GPA and meet the other requirements. 
 
Meyer, was one of seven repeat selections on the women's first team and holds a 3.87 GPA.  She is majoring in exercise science.
 
A 4-time RMAC Champion and 6-time First Team All-RMAC pic over the last three years, Meyer named as the RMAC Women's Diver of the Year on Thursday and was crowned as the RMAC Championship Diver of the Meet after winning both diving events at last months conference championships.  She also set a RMAC Championship, school and El Pomar Natatorium Record of 541.70 points to win the RMAC title on the 3-meter board.  She then went on to earn First Team All-America honors in that event with a seventh place finish at last week's NCAA Division II Championships in Indianapolis.
 
Meyer had shared RMAC Diver of the Meet honors with teammates in 2023 and 2024.
 
Urbanek also holds a 3.87 GPA and is majoring in computer science.  He won five RMAC titles in 2025 and swept the 100 and 200-yard butterfly titles for the fourth straight year.  He also helped the Mavs win the 200 and 400 medley and the 800 freestyle relay events and finishes his career as a 16-time RMAC Champion and 19-time All-RMAC honoree.
 
He went on to earn three all-America honors in the aforementioned relay events at this year's NCAA Championships and finishes his career as a 14-time all-American.
 
Urbanek was one of the Mavs' six repeat selections to the first team, which also included now 4-time selection Gavin Anderson and 3-time pick Jacob Troescher.  Jeremy Koch, Austin Patterson and John Walgast were also selected as repeat picks and were joined on this year's squad by sophomores Max Ayres, Jameson McEnaney and Xander Zappas, who are in their first year of eligibility for the award.
 
Sophia Bains, Kiara Borchardt, the 2023-24 RMAC Academic Athlete of the Year, Olivia Hansson and Ada Qunell were all amongst the repeat selections on the women's first team.  Katerina Matoskova also earned a second career selection (2022) while Tori Bartusiak, Mimi Licht, Sydnee O'Neil and Hanna Sasivarevic earned first team honors as well.
 
The Maverick women, who won a seventh straight RMAC Championship with a meet-record score of 1,939 team points, also led all nine RMAC squads with 21 total honor roll selections.
 
Kyla Babson, Anna Beck, Lilly Bungert, Amelia Fish, Juli Holt, Melaina Howard, Jenna Hurley, Emma Kimbrough, Kate Leary, Tori Nguyen and Kate Speerschneider were the other Maverick women on the honor roll.
 
The Maverick men also won a seventh straight team title and had a conference-leading 19 total honor roll picks.
 
That list also includes Holden Convertino, Caleb Dutton, Wyatt Hermanson, Jackson Moe, Lucas Motley, Mauricio Posadas, Luka Samsonov, Andrew Scoggin and Lucas Viana.
