2023-24 (Junior): Swam in 11 meets, including the NCAA Division II and RMAC Championships during a breakout season… Earned Second Team CSCAA All-America honors as a member of the Mavs’ 200 Free Relay at the NCAA meet… Helped the Mavs finish tenth in 1:19.40… Anchored the Mavs to a school-record time of 1:19.23 in that event during the TYR/CMU Invitational…Also swam on the Mavs’ RMAC title winning team that finished in 1:20.18… Earned first team all-conference honors for that event… Also claimed a second team certificate and bronze medal thanks to a third place finish in the 50 Free… Took fifth in the 100 Fly with a personal-best time of 48.94 (altitude-adjusted)… Ranks tenth in CMU history with that time… Tied for 12
th in the 100 Free and helped the Mavs win the “B” sections in the 200 Medley, 400 Medley and 400 Free Relays… Accounted for 34 ½ team points in his three individual events plus an additional 23 ½ when including his share of the relay points… Won the 50 Free at the TYR/CMU Invitational with an NCAA provisional qualifying and personal-best time of 20.11 seconds… Ranks fourth in program history with that mark… Also set a NCAA “B” cut time of 44.94 (adjusted) in the 100 Free during the 400 Free Relay… Had another season-best time of 1:43.24 (200 Free) at the TYR meet as well… Named to the RMAC All-Academic First Team and earned FIrst Team CSCAA Scholar All-America honor... Ended the season ranked amongst the RMAC's top 10 in three different championship events... Was fourth on the season-long performance list in the 50 Free, sixth in the 100 Fly and ninth in the 100 Free.
Summer 2023: Set new LCM personal-bests of 24.96 (50 Free), 54.00 (100 free), 2:04.25 (200 free) and 59.37 (100 fly) at the USA Swimming Futures Championships in San Antonio, Texas.
2022-23 (Sophomore): Competed in ten meets, including the RMAC Championships… Was an exhibition swimmer at the conference meet… Set season-bests during the conference meet, including a NCAA “B” cut time of 45.20 (altitude-adjusted) in a 100 free time trial… Also had other new season-bests of 20.68 (50 Free), 1:40.78 (200 Free) and 49.75 (100 Fly)… Was named as a Second Team CSCAA Scholar All-American… Also named to the RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll.
2021-22 (Freshman): Competed in six meets, including the RMAC Championships… Was an exhibition swimmer at the conference meet, where he set a new season-best time in all four of his events… Set times of 21.41 (50 free), 47.82 (100 free), 1:46.37 (200 free) and 52.14 (100 fly).
Prep: Swam for the Klein Cain High School Hurricanes, coached by Laykin Luker… Named the team’s hardest worker in 2021 and as the most improved in 2019-20... Competed in a relay at the 6A State Championships… Was a member of the national honor society and student council.
Personal: Is majoring in exercise science and wants to go into college coaching… Son of Sheryl and Iain Berger… Siblings are Keileigh Valenzuela and Ryne Berger, who plays football at CSU Pueblo… Enjoys hiking and hanging with my friends.
