 Football
  • The Mavs (3-3, 2-2 RMAC) claimed their second straight win and moved to .500 on the season with a dominant 54-17 win over Adams State on Saturday night at Stocker Stadium.
  • The Mavs ran for 357 yards and had 513 yards of total offense, breaking open a 27-17 halftime lead with three third quarter touchdowns.
  • Aiden Taylor ran for 127 yards and three first half touchdowns while Cole Hanson completed six of nine passes for 140 yards and a 91-yard touchdown pass to Trek Keyworth, who had 102 receiving yards.
  • Brandon Belgrave, named as the RMAC Offensive Player and the National Football Foundation Colorado Chapter's Player of the Week, and Myles Newble also had touchdown runs while normal linebacker Will Reeves, lined up as a fullback, capped the scoring with a 4-yard touchdown pass from Bronco Hartson, who threw for his first touchdown pass in his collegiate debut to complete the scoring.
  • George Soppe also had a 16-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown and recorded ten tackles, including 1.5 for losses.
  • The Mavs scored touchdowns on each of their first four and seven of their first eight possessions.
  • The Mavericks will be on the road this week, traveling to Las Vegas, New Mexico to face New Mexico Highlands (3-3, 1-3 RMAC) on Saturday at 1 p.m.  The Cowboys have dropped three straight to the three RMAC teams at the top of the standings in Western Colorado, CSU Pueblo and Chadron State after getting off to a 3-0 start.
Men's Soccer
  • The Mavs (5-4-2, 2-1-1 RMAC) had a strong 6-point conference weekend posting a pair of home wins to move into a tie for second place in the RMAC standings.  The Mavs beat Adams State, 5-0 on Friday before taking down national poll No. 9 Fort Lewis by a 4-1 count on Sunday.
  • The Mavericks are now undefeated (1-0-2) against teams ranked amongst the nation's top 10 at the time of the meeting.
  • They are also undefeated (4-0-1) at home this season.
  • Manuel Ponce Casas and Daniel Paulsson scored in both games as the Mavericks scored eight of their nine goals in the second halves of both games.
  • Ponce Casas had the 48th minute game-winner against Fort Lewis and scored again in the 62nd minute after Paulsson put CMU ahead just 1:08 before Ponce Casas' first goal.
  • Matteo Bonelli scored the 13th minute opener against Adams State.
  • Nathan Beck made four saves in net throughout the weekend, recording his third shutout against Adams State.
  • Ponce Casas now leads the Mavs with seven goals this season.  He now has 25 in his career to rank third in program history.
  • The Mavs will be on the road for their lone game of this week, playing at the Colorado School of Mines (2-4-4, 1-2 RMAC) on Sunday at noon in Golden.
Women's Soccer Volleyball
  • The Mavericks (10-5, 4-2 RMAC) split a pair of road matinees over the weekend, sweeping Western Colorado in Gunnison on Friday before falling in three tight sets to Fort Lewis in Durango on Saturday.
  • The Mavs' win over Western was their 25th straight in the rivalry while the loss to Fort Lewis snapped an 8-match winning streak over the Skyhawks.
  • Sadie Scoville led the Mavericks with 13 kills in each of the two matches and also recorded a double-double with 16 kills in the Fort Lewis match.
  • Setters Ashlyn Tafoya and Addie Swanson both recorded double-doubles against the Skyhawks as well.
  • Tafoya also set new season-bests for assists (32) and kills (6) in the win over Western.
  • The Mavericks will return home to play three matches in five days, starting Friday at 6 p.m. against Colorado Christian (9-7, 4-2 RMAC).
  • The Mavs will then play against RMAC-leading CSU Pueblo (12-4, 6-0 RMAC) on Saturday at 3 p.m. as Coach Austin Albers takes on his former squad while four current Maverick players, including Scoville, take on their former teammates.
  • CMU then wraps up the homestand against Westminster (10-6, 3-3 RMAC) next Tuesday (Oct. 21) at 6 p.m.
Cross Country Women's Golf
  • The Maverick women will resume their season this week playing against most of the top teams in the NCAA Division II West Region on Monday and Tuesday at the NCAA West Region Preview, hosted by CSU Pueblo at the Pueblo Country Club.
  • That course will then be the venue for May's regional championship.
  •  season next Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 13-14) at the West Region Preview hosted by CSU Pueblo at the Pueblo Country Club.
  • The 21-team field includes 13 of the 18 squads that competed in last year's regional, including each of the top five placing teams.
  • Defending national champion and fourth-ranked Dallas Baptist, leads a group of five teams in the Mizuno Women's Golf Coaches Association's latest Coaches Poll.  Four other teams expected to compete are also receiving votes in the poll.
  • Payton Panzeri has the Mavs' best scoring average (75.67) and head-to-head winning percentage (.810) through three tournaments.  Fellow senior Anju Ogi is right behind with a 76.83 scoring average and will return to Pueblo, where she spent the past four seasons as a member of the CSU Pueblo squad.
Men's Golf Swimming & Diving
  • The Mavericks swept the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Swimmer and Diver of the Week awards, announced Thursday, after strong efforts at the previous weekend's Intermountain Shootout.
  • Olivia Hansson was named as the RMAC Women's Swimmer of the Week while newcomer and 2024 Paris Olympian Guillaume Guth received the men's award.
  • Jax Juarros and Kenya Meyer swept the diving awards.
  • The CSCAA is slated to release its first monthly edition of the Division II Dual Meet Poll on Friday.
  • The Mavs will be off from competition again this week before returning to the competitive pool on Oct. 24 and 25.  The CMU women will be in Fort Collins to face Colorado State and Denver on Friday, Oct. 24 while the Maverick men will head to Golden to face the Colorado School of Mines in an RMAC dual on Saturday, Oct. 25.
