COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Being recognized for his dominant performance this past week against Colorado School of Mines, Colorado Mesa's Brandon Belgrave was honored this afternoon as he was named the RMAC Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference.
Belgrave, who put together his best outing this season, rushed for 209 yards with 13 yards receiving in the Mavericks 28-24 win against Colorado School of Mines while totaling three touchdowns. Belgrave added two of those touchdowns rushing while catching the eventual game winning touchdown in the fourth quarter. He also added a two-point conversion to finish with 20 points total in the game.
He needed just 24 attempts to total those 209 yards on the ground while averaging 8.7 yards per carry.
With the win the Mavs retained the Nyikos Cup against Mines after defeating them for the second straight year.
Belgrave's 200-plus yard performance was the first time a Maverick had reached that milestone this season with the last time someone achieved that feat being against New Mexico Highlands on Oct. 19 last year in his teammate Aiden Taylor. Taylor finished with 216 yards rushing in that game.
Belgrave joins Sullivan Moon as the second Maverick to earn player of the week honors this year after Moon was the conference's special teams player of the week in week zero.
Colorado Mesa returns home this weekend to host Adams State University on Saturday night at 6 P.M. at Stocker Stadium.
