The 2025-26 athletic year goes into full force this week as five different Maverick teams will compete at home while four others play on the road over the next seven days.

  • The Mavs dropped their season-opener, 41-14 to 21st-ranked Central Washington on Thursday afternoon in Ellensburg, Washington. | FULL RECAP
  • The Mavs trailed 7-0 at the half and 14-7 mid-way in the third quarter before the Wildcats pulled away.
  • Maverick wide-out Trek Keyworth set new career-highs with four catches and147 yards and caught a 66-yard touchdown pass.
  • Punter Sullivan Moon averaged 48.7 yards per punt (6-292 yds.) and had a long of 70 yards, the first 70-yard punt by a Maverick since September 24, 2011.
  • The Mavs return home this week to face Eastern New Mexico in their home-opener and second and final game against Lone Star Conference opposition.
  • Kick-off at Stocker Stadium is at 6 p.m. on Saturday night (Sept. 6)
  • ENMU also opened their season last Thursday, falling 34-28 at home to New Mexico Highlands.
  • The Mavs have not played the Greyhounds since 2019.
Triathlon

  • The Mavs opened their season on Saturday at the Southern Hills Collegiate Cup in Hot Springs, South Dakota. | FULL RECAP
  • They finished sixth out of eight teams and were victorious over the only other NCAA Division II team (Black Hills State) in the field
  • Five of the six Division I teams in the field were nationally ranked, including co No. 1's Arizona and Arizona State.
  • The Mavs were ranked third in the Division II portion of the Collegiate Triathlon Coaches Association Preseason Poll.
  • Josie Williams was the top Maverick finisher, taking 38th in a time of 35:02 on the Super Sprint course, half the distance of a normal collegiate race.
  • Sylvie Aardema Gagnon, a freshman from Viriginia, was the Mavs' top finisher from amongst the list of four newcomers who competed.  She finished in 35:18.
  • The Mavs are off this week but will host much of the same competition at the Desert's Edge Triathlon Cup at Highline Lake State Park in Loma on Sunday, Sept. 14.
Women's Soccer

  • The Mavs will officially open their season on Thursday night in what is CMU's first official home athletic event of the year.
  • The Mavs will take on South Central Regional foe St. Edward's at 7 p.m. at the Community Hospital Unity Field and will then play another regional opponent in St. Mary's at 11 a.m. on Saturday during the Colorado Mesa Kickoff Weekend.
  • St. Edward's and Fort Lewis will also meet at the CHUF at 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
  • The Maverick women, coming of back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, have been picked third in the RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
  • The Mavs are starting their second year under the direction of head coach Jody Lingatfeldt, who led the Mavs to a 14-2-4 overall and 11-1 RMAC record a year ago.
  • They have also been picked 22nd in the United Soccer Coaches' NCAA Division II Preseason Poll.
  • Three Mavs in Keely Wieczorek, Ally Wachtel and Sarah Dunn were named to the Preseason All-RMAC team, made up made up of the top returning players from last year's All-RMAC voting process.
  • Wieczorek was named as the 2024 RMAC Goalkeeper of the Year and will enter the her 2025 junior season tied for the top spot in CMU history for career shutouts (20), a record she could set this weekend.

  • The Mavs will commence their 2025 season at home, hosting the Gig Leadbetter Maverick Stampede on Friday evening, Sept. 5 at the Lincoln Park Golf Course
  • The event will be CMU's only home race of the season and will include a men's 6K at 6 p.m. followed by a women's 4K at 6:45 p.m. on a fan-friendly course with 2K loops (MEET INFO & MAPS)
  • RMAC rival Western Colorado and NCAA Division I power Colorado and Colorado Northwestern Community College are expected to join the Mavs in the team competition.
  • Registration for unattached runners is now open through next Thursday (Sept. 4) at 12 p.m. through Direct Athletics.
  • The Maverick women were picked seventh while the CMU men were picked eighth in the RMAC Preseason Polls.
  • Redshirt senior Megan Hodges was named to the Preseason All-RMAC team.
  • The Mavericks will also be eyeing the USTFCCCA's Preseason Regional Rankings and National Poll, slated for release on Tuesday & Wednesday.
Volleyball

  • The Mavericks will officially open the Austin Albers coaching era this weekend playing in the Kathleen Brasfield Invitational in San Angelo, Texas.
  • Live stats and live stream links can be found on the tournament website.
  • The Mavericks, ranked 23rd in the AVCA's NCAA Division II Preseason Poll, will play four matches over two days (Friday & Saturday).
  • They wrap up the weekend on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. (MST) against the host Angelo State Rambelles, tabbed second in the national poll after advancing to the semifinals of last year's NCAA Tournament.
  • Prior to that, CMU will play Arkansas-Monticello in the season-opener on Friday at 2:30 p.m. MST and against Southern Nazarene that evening at 6:30 p.m. MST.  They will also play a regional match against Texas-Permian Basin at Noon MST on Saturday.
  • The Mavs have been picked second and received a pair of first place votes in the RMAC Preseason Coaches Poll.
  • Three CMU players in Kaitlyn Hall, Sadie Scoville and Allison Waller were named to the RMAC Preseason All-Conference Team.
  • CMU has now appeared in the AVCA Top 25 poll for 42 straight polls, dating back more than three years to the Week No. 1 poll in 2022.
  • Waller could reach the 1,000 career dig milestone and enters the season just 54 away from that milestone with 946.

  • Veteran Coach Dan MacDonald's squads will begin their season at the Colorado College Invitational on the weekend of Sept. 6-7 in Colorado Springs.
  • The Maverick men's roster includes 11 men, including eight returners and three newcomers
  • All but one starter from last year's nationally-ranked squad returns.  The Mavs went 13-10 and enjoyed their best season since 2016.
  • The women also return all but one regular starter from last year's team that went 17-13 while enjoying their best season since 2014.
  • The Mavericks have seven returners and three newcomers on this year's women's roster.

  • The RMAC Network has moved to a pay-pre-view model for the upcoming 2025-26 season.
  • This season, all RMAC athletic events broadcast by its 15 full-member institutions and associate members will only be available for purchase via a single-game pass or a monthly or annual subscription. Revenue generated by the network will be redistributed to the league's membership to enhance their programs.
  • RMAC fans can purchase monthly and annual subscriptions that will provide them access to all regular-season, championship, and archived broadcasts on the RMAC Network. A monthly subscription costs $25, and an annual subscription costs $130. Single-game passes are available for $10, which grants access to a single game for 24 hours.
  • Additionally, a discounted annual subscription price will be available to students, faculty, and staff of each member institution throughout the year. Purchasing options and pricing for individual RMAC Championships will be announced closer to each event.
