Women’s Soccer picked third in RMAC Preseason Poll; Earn league-high three selections to Preseason All-RMAC

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference released its preseason coach's poll and preseason All-RMAC team this afternoon for Women's Soccer with Colorado Mesa being selected to finish third in the league and having three athletes being named to the preseason team.

In each year's preseason poll each of the conference's 13 program's coaches come together to vote on projections without getting to vote for their own school.

After a strong 2024 season where the Mavericks finished with a 14-2-4 record and reached as far as the second round of the NCAA Tournament, they were picked to finish third in the league this year while gathering 117 points. They were voted highly by their peers as well with the Mavs earning one first place vote, three second place votes and two third place votes. Same as last season the Mavs were picked to finish third in the league but ended one spot higher with them finishing the regular season in second place.

Picked to finish first place in this year's season was last year's winner in Colorado School of Mines who earned nine first-place votes and a total of 140 points. They were followed by UCCS who totaled 130 points and earned the other three first-place votes. Beyond Colorado Mesa in third place, the top five was rounded out by MSU Denver being voted to finish in fourth place and Fort Lewis in fifth place.

Earning selections to the Preseason All-RMAC team were the trio of Keely Wieczorek, Ally Wachtel and Sarah Dunn with each of them being All-RMAC performers last season. Wieczorek was named the 2024 RMAC Goalkeeper of the Year in addition to being a First Team honoree with her being one of three major award winners to make this year's team. Wachtel was another First Team member in 2024 while Dunn was named as an honorable mention last season with each of them being selected as defenders. Colorado Mesa had the most selections to the Preseason All-RMAC team this year with no other school having more than two players selected.

The RMAC's preseason team is determined by placing returning players in order of head coaches' voting from the league's 2024 All-RMAC Teams.

The Women's Soccer Team begins their season on Sept. 4 when they host the Colorado Mesa Kickoff Weekend with them taking on St. Edward's University at Community Hospital Unity Field. More information and tickets can be found online at cmumavericks.com
